So everything I read says that pregnant women shouldn't get overheated. Now that it's getting to be warmer down South, I'm curious as to how they define that in regards to just being outside. I'm scared of being out here for too long...but the hubs feels neglected when I'm not out here with him while he works. I'm under a covered porch, with the overhead fan on...and have a glass of ice cold water in my hand. I'm safe from the 85 degree weather outside...yes?
you're fine. your body temperature isn't supposed to get over ~100 degrees (I think). it would have to be very warm outside for you to run the risk of your core temp getting that high sitting on a porch. I don't think core temps typically get that high with vigorous exercise in very high temps. I wouldn't go for a jog at high noon in July but I think just generally hanging out or moving from place to place is fine.
You can actually take your temperature if you want to fully surrender to the crazy. I would not recommend that (though I admit to thinking about doing this during outdoor exercise this summer. I kind of wish that was an output on my garmin).
unless you're looking for permission to take your ice cold water and enjoy it from the comfort of the central air while catching up with your DVR, in which case, permission granted
I think you're fine. You're in the shade, with a fan blowing, and you're staying hydrated. Just be mindful of what your body is telling you. I would avoid hanging around in 90+ temps or direct sunlight for long, though.
I was literally dripping sweat yesterday doing our garden. At one point I did start to get a little concerned, but just stayed super hydrated and went inside to rest when I was done instead of sitting on the deck with MH. If you're in the shade, you're fine, just keep water or Gatorade on hand to prevent dehydration.
