1. What marathon are you running? When is it? Baystate Marathon, Oct. 18
2. What are your planned runs for the week? Just a few shorter runs and track workout on Tuesday since I have my half marathon on Sunday
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc? Flat/rolling hills are my favorite depending on the run since I sometimes like the change in elevation of the hills
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you? I really struggle with steep up and down hills. I find myself taking walking breaks up the hills and then never getting back into a real pattern after that.
5. Any vents or AWs this week? vents - pollen, AW I'm excited for my half marathon on Sunday
Congratulations on everyone that ran marathons last weekend!!
1. What marathon are you running? When is it? Steamboat Marathon, June 7th
2. What are your planned runs for the week?
Monday: 7 miles Tuesday: strength + easy 4 miles Wednesday: off day [new job] Thursday: 9-14 miles, hill repeats [based upon my new work schedule] Friday: easy 4 miles or off day Saturday: 7-15 miles on Leadville 100 course [distance variable by snow cover] Sunday: 13 miles down a mtn pass on pavement [similar to marathon course]
**Full Disclosure: This is really training for my 200M in October, the marathon comes with a few goals [thus the hill work + downhill LR] but my ultimate summer goal is the 200M trail race**
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc?
Variable - on roads or trails. But if I'm on trails I want steep terrain that requires hiking, not the stupid "runnable hills" because those hurt and I'm a whiner!
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you?
I'm bad at maintaining a pace on a flat stretch of trail or road - especially if I'm gunning for a faster pace, I always want to fall back into my comfortable all-day-long pace!
5. Any vents or AWs this week?
AW - I ran the Colfax Half this past weekend as a rather impromptu race and came in just 20 seconds shy of a downhill half marathon PR. Those stupid flat stretches got me, I kept easing into my comfy pace!
1) Erie Marathon, 9/13. I haven't actually signed up yet, but if I were to sign up last week would be week one in my training. I'm still debating what race I want to run if I do run a marathon this fall. I also want to be able to get in a half and race some of my favorite fall 5ks.
2) The biggie is 13 m with 8 at marathon pace.
3) I prefer rolling hills.
4) Steep hills, we ran at Valley Forge Park last weekend and some of those hills darn near killed me.
5) Mr. GT got me sick last week so I didn't get in my speed work. It just wasn't happening.
I'm mainly in maintenance mode / training for a half in July in Ireland.
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc?
Flat or rolling hills. Irish half in July is downhill. Hold me.
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you?
Sunshine is my kryptonite. Luckily I live in England so it's easily avoided. Terrain-wise: uneven surfaces or anywhere I might get hit by a car / tractor / horse. (Reasonably common here)
5. Any vents or AWs this week? Training run on Saturday - 10km in 51 minutes. Yesss! I need to improve my speed, so this is good for me.
1. What marathon are you running? When is it? Marine Corps Marathon 10/25
2. What are your planned runs for the week? Mon - Rest, Tues - 5 MI (tempo)+ lifting, Wed - 6 x 800 (10K pace), Thur - 8mi, Fri- Lifting, Sat - 13mi, Sun - 5MI + lifting
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc? rolling hills, flat. I like some challenges when training and then like easier courses when racing. (naturally)
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you? Long hills suck and are soul sucking. Especially when I do a new route and they keep coming. Once I do a route a few times, I get to know the hills and they seem easier. But when it's the first time, and they pop out of nowhere. It's hard.
5. Any vents or AWs this week? Nothing too exciting. I'm moving onto Phase 3 of NROL abs and I'm a little scared about what's to come and if I'll be able to handle it on top of running.
I can't believe I'm joining this thread. Haven't been a regular on H&F, but I will need some motivation and accountability for the next few months!
1. What marathon are you running? When is it? Via (Lehigh Valley) - September 13th
2. What are your planned runs for the week? 3 mi Tues, 4 mi Wed, 3 mi Fri, 7 mi Sunday. I'm sore from a ridiculously hilly and hot half marathon yesterday, so this week will be a challenge.
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc? Rolling hills with nice scenery. I live in PA near a bunch of horse farms and it's a beautiful area for running.
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you? Heat. Steep hills, or grassy trails.
5. Any vents or AWs this week? This heat and humidity is killing me. I will get used to it, right? I'm really scared of long runs in July and August!
2. Sigh. I dont know. Ill probably run 6 tomorrow, 4 thursday and/or friday. 3. Flat with small rolling hills 4. Not terrain, heat. Heat and humidity are my kryptonite. And big hills. Mostly heat. 5. I blew off my last long run. Al320 ftw!!

3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc? Flat or slightly downhill. Small hills are tolerable.
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you? Hills and heat/humidity/sunshine on warm days. I run very warm, so I melt in the heat.
5. Any vents or AWs this week? There aren't enough hours in the day!
1. 7 bridges marathon, Oct. 18 2. Mostly recover from the half on Sunday. I'll probably do easy runs Tues-Thursday, mostly 5-7 miles. I am traveling to a wedding on Fri so not sure what the weekend will hold running wise. 3. Flat 4. Uphill is by far my hardest despite all the work I have put in. 5. Aw-half PR on Sunday

Welcome to the crazy...we're here to talk you into crazy things!
1. What marathon are you running? When is it? Chicago
2. What are your planned runs for the week? Nothing really planned.. I am going to CF M/W/Th, and will get a short run in on T/Th; I have a 10 mile race on Sat
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc? Pancake flat!
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you? Downhills are tough for me. They really tear up my quads and I have a hard time not running too fast.
5. Any vents or AWs this week? None that are running related. I will AW that I wore a tank top this weekend and damn, my shoulders look good!
Eek! Jumping in to join you all. I'm excited commiserate with other first-timers and learn from all of you seasoned marathoners!
1. What marathon are you running? When is it?
NYCM on November 1.
2. What are your planned runs for the week?
3 miles, 3 miles (pace) and 6 miles. 2 bike rides, 30 & 60 minutes. Will get a yoga class in, too, at some point this week.
3. What's your favorite type of running route? Flat, downhill, rolling hills, lots of hills, etc?
Just ran 6 miles on a gravel trail near my parents house and it was heaven. Love a nice flat route, too.
4. On the flip side, what's your running kryptonite? What kind of terrain is the hardest for you?
For some reason, Central Park always feels like it's uphill everywhere in both directions, lol. I feel like I will never PR in Central Park. And another vote for extreme heat.
5. Any vents or AWs this week?
Had a blast running the Brooklyn Half on Saturday. It's my favorite race. I look forward to May every year just to run it. My husband ran with me this year and we had so much fun!
