I'll be in Chicago next month for 24 hours for a concert and need recs for things to do/places to eat during my short stay. I've only been to the suburbs (Addison), but never to the city.
Yay how fun!! What kinda stuff/food are you into to? I can help narrow down some options based on that and proximity to where you are staying and whatever other parameters you might have.

What concert, if I may ask?

We're open to anything, but food wise, DH is less adventurous than I am. We love museums, and doing touristy things. We are flying into Midway, so I'm assuming we'll stay somewhere close to there. Not 100% sure on that, because DH is going for work, but it's a long(ish) layover.

I wouldn't stay near Midway...not a great area. Also not close to downtown. Stay downtown and then cab/uber it out to the concert. Is this the one at the United Center. My fav hotel is the Conrad but that can be $$$. Great location though.

It's wherever the airline puts us so we don't have a say. But turns out it is downtown.
If you like touristy things and have the early afternoon free, the Food Planet food tour is fun. You can choose the neighborhood and it's a fun way to get to try a bunch of different places and see more of the city. We did the Old Town/Gold Coast tour this weekend. The river architecture tour is also a nice way to spend a few hours. If you're there in time for breakfast/brunch, go to Wildberry by Millenium Park and get the breakfast panini...so good. Then go wander around Millenium park, then head to your food tour!
