Hi All. We had the anatomy scan at 20 weeks yesterday and everything looked great. We also found out we are having a GIRL! Very exciting, it's fun to know and feels more real. it was crazy how much the baby was moving around but I couldn't really feel anything. I did find out I have an anterior placenta so the doctor said that would cushion the early movements.
I also had to do a urine test (I think I will at each appointment). The nurse commented I had some extra sugar in the urine and asked what I had for breakfast. I did have some fruit, and also had a piece of white toast with jelly (jelly is a weird craving I am having). She said that could it explain it.
But I am wondering if this is an early GD sign. Did anyone else have sugar in their urine early and then the glucose screening confirmed GD? Or was the GD a total surprise?
I am going to start trying to watch what I eat a little more. I have been giving into the sugar cravings a lot, and I know that's not healthy whether or not I might end up having GD!
I don't know much about GD but try not to worry too much about the urine test yet. Just take care of yourself and be healthy. That's all you can do anyway. You'll have your test soon, then you'll get some answers.
I have GD and have had to test my urine at all my prenatal visits for both glucose and proteins. It has always been negative for both. I was just diagnosed with GD last week FWIW.
I have always tested positive for sugar in my urine when I'm not well hydrated, usually if I have an appt first thing in the morning and I haven't had a chance to drink a lot yet. I've never had GD.
I had GD and did have sugar in my urine. I don't know if they ever tested for it at the OB, but when I had to go to the hospital for contractions/dehydration, that's when they saw it. It happened to be over the weekend that I was waiting for my results of my 3 hour glucose test. I don't know if it makes a difference how far along in pregnancy they find the sugar in your urine. Looks like plenty of other posters have had it without having GD, I hope that's the case for you!

It was early (I tested at 8:45am) and not sure I had really had any liquids other than a few sips of coffee. I also need to up my water intake anyway, I know that. This is helpful, thanks!
