First world problem: I was watching the finales of The Voice and Dancing with the Stars last night when the power went out...for an hour! What's most annoying about it is that they started both finales an hour later than usual...if they had started at their regular time, I wouldn't have missed anything.
Annoying people rant: Everybody is freaking out of the amount of severe storms that north Texas has had in the last few weeks, saying "the hits just keep on coming" and praying that the storms stop (yes, posting a prayer on FB). Considering the number of storms (ie tornadoes) that we've had this season, we have been EXTREMELY fortunate! Only a few [small] towns have been hit hard. This area in particular dodged a bullet a few weeks ago and we're lucky that a tornado didn't touch down in a densely populated area. All this rambling to say: Be thankful for the rain and that we haven't had any major damage. We live in tornado alley and it's just a part of life this time of year. If you can't handle it, move.
^^ I understand if you tl;dr. I just had to get it out.
On a brighter note (still weather related), my hometown and the lakes that supply their water got some great rains yesterday! They've been suffering from severe drought.
I just talked to my boss, who is still in the hospital (went in Saturday night, found blood clots in his lungs and leg, put on IV blood thinners). Apparently he started having chest pain yesterday, and they are trying to figure out what is causing it and what meds to put him on. He sounded terrible. I'm really scared; I've worked for him for 8 years and he is like family. Any T&P you can spare are appreciated.

I'm phoning it in with dinners this week, pretty much just using up the produce and fresh items that need to be eaten before we are gone for a week and not making anything huge that would have leftovers. I also forgot a daily log on MFP over the weekend and decided to halt that until after we get back from vacation.
FWP: It seems I will never have a perfect relationship with technology since there is always something that doesn't seem to work right. When one issue gets fixed, something else starts to fail. These high-tech devices are supposed to make my life easier but I always seem to have the one bug or problem that takes forever to fix and it drives me batty, even though these are things I never needed to rely on in decades past.

Oh that is not good. I'll send healing thoughts his way and hope that things improve quickly.
alabasterangel , I hope you feel better quickly as well.
My random, I just got paid $250 to teach a private class to 7 people. Life doesn't suck. We also sold our motorcycle today, so that is kind of bitter sweet.
Sad day, sitnspin. Why did you guys get rid of it?
I know! We bought it brand new in 2010 and that was when all of our friends rode, etc. and before I owned the studio. We literally rode it twice last season. Even though we paid for it without taking out a loan, we still have to insure it all year, register it, get a tune-up, and it was just bleeding money really (even though nothing was wrong with it). It cost us about $500 a ride when we did the math. No one rides anymore with us and we are just too busy to get out there.

@ello - why annoyed? Too soon or is that date important for some reason?
It's very soon and she's giving everyone short notice. She had a date set for next year that I already requested off and that worked out perfectly for us. Plus she's very wishy washy; I'm just afraid I'm going to request the time and then she's going to cancel it and pick another date and time.
Ahh, gotcha. That makes sense! (And sucks.) Hopefully this one sticks, and you can just have it done and over with!!
He's still in the hospital, but he sounded a lot better today. Yesterday (or the night before) he said they inserted a "filter" above one of the clots, and they were running a bunch of tests and trying to get the dosing right for the blood thinners he'll be taking when they release him. The results that had come back this morning looked like things were progressing well, so that's good. Thanks for asking.
