Some teaser pics, I'll post more in the coming days. The electricians are coming today to install the fan, lighting, speakers, etc. And the floor still needs to be finished. Obviously, I have a lot of landscaping to do countthestars (since you recently asked about porches)
I'll probably stain the bottom to match the fence (Sikkens mahagony).

Gorgeous!! I love it. So the door is new (as in, you didn't lose any previously existing natural light by adding the porch?). That's our biggest fear, since we would be essentially covering two windows. It looks really great. Are there just wood stairs down to the grass on the far side?

Yup, there's a staircase off the back to the yard. I want to put a few flagstones at the base of the stairs and eventually a flagstone pathway winding around the yard.
There's a good deal of ambient light from the porch but yeah, you would definitely lost some light by adding a covered porch. For us it was win-win since there were no doors or windows on that side of the house.
Ugh, I just talked to the floor finishers...I have a feelings it's going to be pricey.
That's fantastic! I'm jealous. What kind of deck furniture are you thinking? Dining set or just seating area or both or...?
I think just seating, since it's off the dining room. I figure we can have the doors open and eat in the dining room on a nice day.
We have a teak love seat glider, but I'm eying something like this for furniture. We'd like at least 1 full couch for naps. I think 2 couches and the glider would be too much, so probably a couple chairs and ottoman. Not sure about colors yet. We're going furniture shopping this weekend.
We'll probably put something like this out there too (and plenty of plastic toys, I'm sure).
Gorgeous! I am so jealous. I want a screened in porch/3 season room so bad but the space it would go means that the living room would get like no light so not sure what we will end up doing.
That came out great! Do you have to do anything special in winter? I've been trying to talk DH into one but he says you have to take down screens and all sorts of "effort" in the winter. We are in MA though.

Nope, nothing special. We'll probably get covers for our furniture but that's it. We might get a heater eventually too
