One of my co-workers brought a little pressure cooker to work a few weeks ago for a potluck, and she kept talking about it like it was magical. I really don't need any more counter kitchen appliances, but we have a cheap-o rice cooker and an old crock pot, and neither of them work very well. I'm tired of mushy rice and dry chicken.
Are pressure cookers really magical cooking devices? Do they really work for cooking rice, too?
My mom and mother in law have them and I greatly prefer crock pot results. The pressure cooker left all their meat a bit more dry and stiff than I prefer. If you want something better maybe you could just get a new, better crock pot as opposed to a pressure cooker. My mother in law's unit does crossover as a rice maker and a few other things, but I don't know the cost compared to buying those tools individually.
