I am overwhelmed. What double stroller do you have? Does it allow for the older child to sit and be strapped in while the baby stays in it's car seat? Do you like it? Dislike it? I used my snap and go a ton when DD was an infant but I don't think it will work for us with the new baby if I'm out with both, since DD won't reliably walk next to me.
I'm willing to buy something new - I just don't even know what to look for!

I traded in my old uppa baby vistafor the new 2015 version. I love it because I don't want to be confined to a double only, there are alit if times I want to use it as a single. I keep the pieces in my car and can decide in the spot it needs to be a double or single depending on the situation I love having the bassinet for walks around the neighborhood and not having her stuck in the car seat with it being so hot. I love all the configurations for two seats. I also have the car seat adaptor. I love that it pushes like a singe even with two.
Downside is it's pricey. I bought mine20% off and got $400 for my old one, so it wasn't horrible. Another similar option would be the city select.
Do you walk a lot? Do you SAH or work and does the older child go to daycare of some sort?
I had mine two years apart and my daughter went to daycare during my maternity leave, so I didn't feel it was worth it to shell out a ton on a double. Also I would often wear the baby and put matilda in the single stroller if I was out with both.
I bought a used chicco cortina together double (it's a tandem and HUGE). It worked well for somewhat infrequent use, heavy and cumbersome but a lot of storage so good for a walk to the beach or to the store to pass the time. I paid less than $100 for it.
Then I went back to work at 3 months anyway so rarely was alone with both and needed a double. I still used it now and then.
recently I bought a double umbrella stroller which so far I love and wish I'd bought one sooner. It folds up pretty small and can be rolled with one hand, fits in the trunk of any car etc.
now if I were a sahm I'd probably have shelled out the $$ for a double bob or similar. We have a single jogger (mountain buggy) and I don't feel I'd use a double jogger.
another option is one of those steps you attach to the single stroller, so they stand when they get tired. But since my daughter was only two that wouldn't work for us, she was not to be trusted ha. Now at 3 that would work fine though and I assume it's kid dependent. Some two year olds probably would happily stand on the back. Also some 2-3 year olds refuse to be in a stroller at all. Mine loves sitting in a stroller
the problem I'm having with them in the side by side umbrella stroller now is that when matilda has something william reaches over and tries to grab it from her so she's always complaining that he's "touching her" ha. But overall it works well, I just have to have snacks and drinks for both at all times

I'm trading my SIL my single bob for her double. My friend has the infant insert I will borrow. I've only had a single Bob and it's been fine. I wear the baby in tighter places and plan on doing that again.
I have the city select but I didn't buy it until DS was 5 months old so I never put the car seat adapter on it. I just reclined the seat at that age.
My friend used it that way with the adapter and a seat and it seemed fine. I like it because I don't like side by sides, I can barely maneuver a single through a door. We still use it pretty often and our kids will be 2 and 4 this summer. I also like that it can be used as a single when we want to.
My kids are 22 months apart for the first several months I just wore DS and used my city mini for DD. If we were out as a foursome I used my snap n go.

Do you have a link to the infant insert? I'm torn between getting a cheap BabyTrend double jogger (that will fit our BabyTrend bucket seat) and going for the Bob Duallie - but I'm not sure how well it works with tiny babies.

I have a City Select and love it. i didn't want a side by side and I didn't want to be stuck using a double at all times (or have to have two strollers in the car at all times). I just got the glider board for it too so I'll put that on if I just have one seat on so this way DD1 has somewhere to stand if she gets tired
I have been trying to find one too. The issue I am having is DD1's height. She is tall and will not fit in most with a canopy. My advice, if you gave a tall kid, make sure you try them out first.
I got a Joovy Caboose because I was too cheap to shell out for the double City. I only use it to walk the dogs, and it's fine for that. $150 for the stroller and the extra jump seat for the back. The car seat attaches to the front. Anywhere else we go I usually wear the baby and we bring another single stroller or DD1 walks.
I also have a City Select. I just bought it a few weeks ago but really like it. A few of my IRL friends have them too and they all love them.
Big pros: can also be used as a single, front/back vs. side by side, nice big basket underneath,
Cons: it is kind of heavy (but I think most double strollers are), expensive - I bought the stroller, second seat kit, carseat kit, snack tray, and console thing and it was probably close to $800.
Mine are close enough together (25 months) that I figured we'd get enough use out of it, plus I'm not a huge fan of babywearing. I walk a lot for exercise, and I like being able to put the car seat right into the stroller without transferring the baby. We justified it as being cheaper than a gym membership.
- Phil & Ted - Great if you want the option to have a single or a double stroller. Takes a car seat, or you can place the baby in the seat, which reclines completely flat. Compact, lightweight. This would be my choice if I were in and out of a car frequently. It worked wonderfully for public transit, too.
- Valco Baby tri-mode double - As far as double joggers go, it's fantastic. It can fit through doorways, the wheels can lock or swivel, and it has a huge basket as well as packs on the backs of the seats that can be zipped off. The canopies are huge, you can get a mesh bug net and a rain cover. Not super heavy but definitely not light or that compact. My big kid could still fit in it when I was using it, and she was five when we started using it. Can turn into a triple stroller if you get the joey jump seat. I absolutely loved it.
- Sit and stand - Piece of crap. I used it at the daycare I worked at, and the wheels sucked. It was hard to push with more than one kid in it. Maybe they've improved on it since I've used one, but still. I'm spoiled with good wheels. I feel like you want air-filled tires for a double.
- City Select - Can be a single or a double. Heavy. Lots of seat configurations. You can use a car seat or a bassinet with it and the seats recline fully. Big basket.
- Chariot Cougar 2 - Technically a bike trailer but can be used for strolling, jogging, hiking and skiing. No car seat can be used, but you can get an infant sling. This isn't a stroller that you use with a car, though. It's the type you put together and leave assembled in the garage. We don't own a car and walk/bike, so this is the perfect stroller for us.

City select. I also have a Skngle BoB which I love but I didn't want side by side. Love the city select. I use seat and car seat, seat and seat or sometimes just single city or car seat. I love the versatility. It isn't as smooth turning as a BOB especially when it's double but I walk to the park daily with it and it's fine.

I have a Phil and Ted with the doubles kit. I still really like the stroller, even 5 years after I got it, but like anything there are pros and cons.
Pros: Can easily go from single to double Super easy for mobile kid to get in and out bottom seat Can be used for jogging/outdoor uneven surfaces
Cons: Price Sun shade isn't great (not big enough) Heavy (much like a BOB) Wheels are smaller than a BOB, so running with it is a lot of work Assembly/disassembly is required for the "doubles" seat (but is simple) to fold stroller

We have a Bumbleride Indie Twin. It doesn't get much use anymore now that my older two are out of the stroller stage. They were born 18 months apart so there was a time when it got used daily. We do still use it while on vacation (we're planning on taking it to Disney) and whenever we're headed somewhere that will require a lot of walking. My 3 year old does still prefer to ride rather than walk sometimes.
I love, love, love this stroller! It's a side-by-side so it is large, but I've never had issues unless I tried to squeeze it into a tight store at the mall (Carters and Gymboree are the worst). It has actual air-filled tires rather than plastic ones and is SO easy to push. Even with 2 kids in it, I could easily push it with one hand. It also has a nice, large storage area under the seats. I had an adapter strap that allowed me to connect my Graco SnugRide infant seat to it. I also purchased the carry cot separately so that the newborn could nap flat in the stroller. This was really nice to have in the beginning.
The downsides are that it was really expensive. I was able to get mine discounted as there was a new model that was coming out. It is also pretty bulky to store due to it's size. If you have a minivan or an SUV, it won't be an issue but it would probably be a tight squeeze in a sedan.

Which Phil & Teds do you have? I have my eye on the navigator...

Well, I got mine 5 years ago, so I think it's the "sport" model, but I'm pretty sure they don't make it anymore. Really, they are all VERY similar. I am still very happy with it, but I despise running with it. If you are looking for a real jogging stroller, get the BOB.

Nah I'm not looking for a jogging stroller. I've tried and tried to jog/run but I'm just not made for it. I do like to take a lot of walks though.

Which Phil & Ted?
Classic, sorry. I don't know why that didn't post.
namasteak I have the new Phil & Ted Navigator. It wouldn't be a good jogging stroller. I would spring for a secondhand BOB Duallie instead. I had a single BOB Revolution and the Phil & Ted Navigator is nothing like it to push and not just because of double the kid weight. No shocks and wheels are small. Would be a rough one to use for jogging.
I pretty much hate my Phil & Ted Navigator but I am stuck with it because it is the smallest footprint inline double out there. I need that because my stroller has to fit in my front hall.
The back seat is small and a pain to get the baby in and out of. There is very little basket storage with the second seat in use. It doesn't handle curbs well and is a beast to push with two kids in it.
I will be selling mine as soon as DS2 drops his naps and I will get a second hand UBV or Bugaboo with a ride on board.
All that said, I would still get the Phil & Ted to get me through the first year and a half of two kids 22 months apart. It gets the job done but it's not very pleasant.
My sis is pregnant with twins and bought a friend's 2014 City Select as it is the one she selected after a day long stroller shopping trip we did. The only thing I don't like is how it folds, that it doesn't stand when folded, and that you have to manually engage the lock to keep it folded. I have a 2011UBV, though, so I'm used to that. The City Select is a great double stroller, though, if you will need to use it as a double most of the time.

If you did not want to use it as a jogging stroller would you be happy? I don't need much basket storage if that helps. Have you tried different configurations to see if its easier to get baby in/out (that is one of the selling points to me)?

DS1 and DS2 will be 20 months apart.
Yeah it's fine for getting around.
Things that didn't work well for us:
- rear seat really is just a pain to get a kid out of. It is so low to the ground and really close to the front seat. Now I am saying this from the perspective of having a huge baby - he is six months and 24-25 lbs. That is a lot of weight for a kid that can't help himself in or out. If he was a lighter kid it wouldn't be as bad.
- rear seat in front with large seat turned into a bassinett: felt really unstable and both kids became too large for the set up quickly. DS2 (toddler) is very tall and DS3 (baby) is very heavy. I mostly wore DS3 the first three months and then when he had decent head/neck strength I put him in the smaller seat with it reclined.
- I'm in an old part of the UK and there aren't wheel friendly ramps/lips on curbs in most places. It is crazy hard to lean the stroller back on the rear wheels and get it up on a sidewalk.
-If you don't need basket storage then this stroller is for you. I toss a few things in there but end up putting bags of groceries on the canopy
I will say I was not into the autostop handle bar but now I love it. Super helpful when DS2 wants to take his scooter along for a walk. He is crazy and I have had to let go of the stroller several times to run after him.
Other than being heavy up hills, not good for jogging and hard to get up on curbs, the air filled tires give a smooth-ish ride.
I'm still hopeful that I will like it more when we turn it into a single and when we are back in North America with better curbs and fewer hills.
Most people I know that have this stroller have the same complaints but, like me, needed a small footprint in-line double stroller for kids born less than two years apart. I do wish I had been able to find one second hand but all the ones that I saw near me were in rough shape from a lot of use.

I used it when I nannied. I put DD1 (who was 2.5 at the time) in the jump seat in the front. The baby was in the main seat with it fully reclined and unbuckled (so it became basically a bassinet). I was able to get her out fairly easy from the back. I never used the car seat adapter, but I was walking every where and using transit, so it didn't make sense, especially when I needed to fold the stroller up for the bus.
