We are venturing out of the house with underwear and no diaper/pull up. I'm skeptical.
It wasn't bad. It reminded me of the newborn time when you are on constant blowout watch.
Yesterday I packed 2 gallon-sized ziplocs with changes of clothes/undies and shoes (in case of a major flood) (benefit of having entirely too big a wardrobe). Carried one of those, wipes, and puppy pads. Her carseat is lined with a puppy pad.
And, of course, we took her to try when we arrived and left each place.

Does the puppy pad work, in the sense that it isn't making the carseat more dangerous? I'm interested. I was starting to think forward on how to take him out anywhere and got as far as an empty gatorade bottle to pee in and.......... yeah.
@fivedogs may call me out if I'm wrong, but I don't see why it would be an issue. It doesn't interfere with the straps/harness at all, everything's still appropriately tight, and I've seen aftermarket products by diono and such.
And def a downside to having a girl. We've got a 3 hour trip in 2 weeks, so I'll definitely be doing it again.

Chickens - we brought a little potty with us when we were potty training. Of course, we have a van, so it was easy to put the seat on the floor of the van, take her out of the car seat and let her pee in the car (then empty on the side of the road when we were seriously in the middle of no where).

He peed and pooped while we were at the park..in his underwear. He started peeing and stopped and told us he needed to go. So I ran him back to the car and got out the travel potty where he finished going. Not 5 minutes later I caught him doing the poo stance and asked him 3 times if he needed to poop. He said no each time. Then 30 seconds later said "I pooped".

Oh yes, I plan to bring the IKEA potty in my car. Unfortunately I will have the dogs with me too so I don't think I can use the back of the car...but I'm sure I'll think of something!
Of course my first time taking her by myself on that drive and she'll be newly trained. And I won't leave the dogs alone in the car. So I might have to use the potty too, lol!!!
Day 2 was very successful. 3 poops in potty, and all pee except for 2 small accidents. He lengthened how long he can hold his pee to about 30 minutes. I'm very optimistic about tomorrow!

Argh, as expected he is peeing in his underwear every time. When he's pantsless it seems to click for him but adding the underwear makes him think he can use it like a diaper.
My stubborn husband is continuing underwear for bed in my absence. I guess he took her before he went to bed at 11 and she woke at 6am wet. So now he thinks we should wake motn to take her. Why? Wouldn't a bedtime diaper be easier? Ahhhhh!

Another success, another accident.
I spoke to DCP and she was adamant about no straight up undies. She doesn't want to have to clean pee out of her rugs, which I understand. Rather than go back to pull ups, I found some old flip covers and will send those tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. She's only at DC for 4 days before she's home with me for 14, so we have time to make some real progress.

Flip covers over undies hold nothing. At least during a nap. I speak from experience.

We will still do pull ups during nap. Will they hold the occasional accident?
Alternatively I have pockets I could send unstuffed (maybe the lining would help?) but then she needs a new one after every accident../

Advice needed... DS went to the potty (left the kitchen with us and went to the bathroom and peed in the potty) all by himself when we were distracted! I think he gets the concept when he has no undies on. However when we have undies, he thinks they are like a diaper. How do I change him from that thought process?

As much nudity as possible. Like, some of the books/articles say bottomless for a few weeks or months at home.

I'm trying not to jinx it, but I think he's got it! We're debating going out to lunch in underwear! No accidents today yet at all.
We all went to lunch at Panera, completely dry! He peed before he left, peed at Panera after lunch, and peed when he got home. Dry underwear! We're praising like crazy.

I am far away from doing any PTing myself but my nephew wears boxers for this reason - they didn't feel as much like a diaper so he never had any trouble with thinking they were one.
We threw in the towel for this weekend. The first two days seemed promising, but there doesn't seem to be any learning curve on peeing. He recognizes poop, so we'll continue to encourage him to poop on the potty, but try with pee again when he's a little older. (Maybe Fourth of July weekend).
Yeah I'm worried we may not be making any *real* progress...
I don't think we are either. I mean, we kind of are. She's holding it and peeing on the potty when we put her on. But she's not warning me in advance. So accidents. And forget about #2 lol. Sigh. Hopefully by the end of the summer though...
It's bedtime here on Day 3, and it was a complete success! Day 1 five accidents, Day 2 two accidents, Day 3 zero accidents. We even went out to lunch today (the first time he's been in pants all weekend) and he stayed dry. So we're going to stick with underwear!

We are in the same boat. She had an accident tonight while playing. Of course it was right as I opened a cabinet and 3 glass plates came crashing down. Fun for our guests!
We will do undies tomorrow except for nap and see how she does at daycare.

We plan to keep him bottomless at home in the evenings and weekends when home and daycare is going to work on getting him on a potty schedule. I dunno if she is gonna go bottomless or not. We'll see!
