FI is in NY right now for his third and final interview and I CAN FOCUS ON NOTHING ELSE. it doesn't help that I'm stuck in a chair getting an infusion, so I don't even have work to distract me.
He thinks he'll have a decision by the end of this week, as there's no one else to meet with, they've done the background check, called his references, etc.
I just want to know what state we'll be living in!
It's 8am here and I'm hosting an all day partner meeting. I just found out that the caterer if hired to do lunch for our group had a kitchen fire last night!! Shitter- time to find a new caterer that can deliver in 3 hours. Luckily specialtys is in our building so I'm hoping if I beg they can come through for me regardless of the fact they usually need more time. Just what I needed this morning.
I am debating buying a groupon that is for a facial, massage, pedicure and other random add-ons. The Yelp reviews are so-so for the place, but that is true for any spa near me, so I'm not sure I should hold it against them.

is there a specific provider whose name is listed in positive reviews? maybe you can buy the group on and specifically request him/her
I have a morbid question: H and I are traveling overseas for the next two weeks. Is it a brilliant or terrible idea to mail my sister a cheat sheet of what to do if we die? It's kind of random, but she's the executor of our will, the trustee in a trust and the guardian for DD. It would save her a lot of time and hassle of I just out it all in one place for her. Right? She would keep it in their safe.

it's something she should have on hand -- your trip is a good reminder to put it in place. I vote smart!

I think it is very smart to have something like that no matter what.
That said, my parents try to have that conversation (in excruciating detail) with us every time they go abroad and my sister and I a lot about it. I mean, they could die any time and also, if you've heard where the silver is once, you've heard it a thousand times.
I got back from a trip yesterday afternoon (domestic, driving, for work) and immediately started packing for my weekend trip (international, redeye, for play). I am usually a good packer, but I somehow deleted my default international packing list, I'm a bit skeptical of the process when I didn't even really unpack, and I didn't do a great job when I packed for work trip (forgot deodorant, cash, and ATM card), so I'm kind of scared of what I forgot. I know I have my passport. I know I forgot my camera . Not looking forward to other surprises, particularly if I forgot my essential redeye creature comforts.

I did this when we went on a weeklong vacation a couple years ago. And we don't have kids. I absolutely think it's a good idea, especially if you have a kid.
I printed out a sheet with important phone numbers, our bank accounts, HR info from work, insurance, etc., plus a few requests as to what to do if we die. I put it in the fireproof box where we keep our important paperwork and passports and stuff. My brother agreed to feed the cats while we were away, so we had him over the house before we left to show him where the cat food was and at that point I showed him the fireproof box and told him to get that paper if something happened to us. When we went on a weeklong vacation last year, I made some slight updates to the paper and told my mom about it when we emailed her our travel itinerary.
We've never gone anywhere where safety is a concern, but I like to have someone know how to reach us and our flight numbers and everything. Plus our final wishes in case the unthinkable happens.
I got in around 10pm last night and leave straight from work for Nashville tomorrow. at least it's not international, but I'm a sucky packer who forgot toothpaste.
I will never forget my meds though--flying with clonazepam is a whole new experience! (heart)

I remembered my clonazepam! I don't have flying anxiety, but it sure helps me try to sleep on the red eye!

My sister as a list with all my information on it. I think it will just make it easier for her if the need arises.

@idaholakelady, I did the same thing when we got married overseas. My mom was like WTF, but it made me feel better.
I am sitting at a coffee shop working while my house is being professionally cleaned. I have worked 3 back to back 10-11 hour days, today is my anniversary, and my MIL comes tomorrow for 10 days. I don't feel guilty about paying someone to clean, at all.

@idaholakelady-I think it's smart and necessary. We have death envelopes in our safe (passwords, policy info, account info for just about everything) MIL knows the safe combo in the event that it's needed.

I have a fitting at 2 that is making me a nervous wreck. It's my FOURTH fitting on a dress--I've completely changed the dress shape, altered the shit out of the shoulders/back, and have spent the ENTIRE audio book of Orange is the New Black fussing over it. I think she is going to love it. I think I am going to bust open a bottle of champagne when it's over (except I have another fitting at 4 pm, so with a bit of a delay)
I am currently at work finishing some things up--It's so wonderful and quiet and calming today.

Good luck with the fitting!
While you're posting about seamstress stuff, may I please pick your brain? I need a dress tailored. The top part above the waistband is baggy on me, and the skirt goes below my knee so I'd like it taken up maybe three inches:
Do you have an opinion on how long this might take a seamstress, and how much I might expect to pay for it? (NP if you can't give a number, I know it varies.) I want to wear it to a mid-June party so I have to find someone soon.
I'm impressed since today's weather guaranteed that mine would look like crap.
I usually wash my hair at night, but last night I didn't do it. My alarm (and therefore my cats meowing for breakfast) went off an hour earlier this morning so I decided to wash and blow dry my hair before I left for work. It's a bit frizzy because of the weather but I got some nice lift on the crown.

mbcdefg,I can't pull up the picture, but that would fall in my bridesmaids flat rate of 50 bucks and could easily be done within a week. This is probably not helpful at all..
It is amazing how a day of Zen calm can be turned down a tad the moment my coworker walks in the door.
Me: coworker, you're here! I was wondering if you were going to come in for the staff lunch. CW: I would never give up on the chance to enjoy free food.
One hour later
Me: i'm going to walk over to the staff lunch, would you like to join me?
CW: no one informed me we had tickets. I can't possibly take time away from writing my thesis to attend this lunch
I got a pedi this morning and it was so peaceful. Mr. P is picking up my sister and coming home a day early from a work trip...wheeee! I need to be packing, we are leaving for Up North tomorrow or Saturday. We have so much to do, but I will be happy to be in Michigan for 3 weeks and I get to see my mommy and all my friends and hang out some.

My socks :,( I couldn't find them last night and couldn't bear the thought of taking time to search, but I forgot to replace them.
And my most brilliant idea to date -- shower at the airport and you'll be fresher when you arrive! -- didn't work out because the lounge in this terminal that my credit card gets me access to is closed. Grrrrrr.
