I am going through my closet (like I do every May, but I'm never quite ruthless enough). I have a couple of old BM dresses that I'm definitely never going to wear again. (One of them is from STYYD LOL.) They are not in perfect condition--each has a little snag along the back of the hemline (so not super noticeable). I really need to get these out of my house. Should I bother with trying to consign or just donate?
One of our local radio stations does an event called 'Operation Prom Princess' and they give prom dresses for underprivileged girls who can't afford a prom dress. They are always looking for donations. I would look into and see if there is something like that in your area.
I'd just donate unless you want to wait to donate to a charity collecting homecoming dresses in the fall
This is a good idea, thanks! It's too late for prom, but I will look for a charity that collects dresses for homecoming/next year's prom.
Anyone happen to know one in Atlanta?
Try CHOA, I know our children's hospital does a "prom" for kids who are inpatient during this time of year. I just saw them bringing in the racks of formalwear the other day. Not sure if it's the hospital itself or an outside charity that does it, but I bet contacting the gifts/donations folks would get you in the right spot.
