Does anybody know where I can find the car seat requirements for Canada?
I am traveling there in July to visit family and will fly into Calgary and then drive for 5 hours to get to my family's house. I am on the fence about bringing DS current car seat, a Britax Marathon (http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/marathon), or getting a booster and traveling with that and using that in the rental car for the week. My son will be 10 days shy of his 5th birthday but he's big and is about 50lbs and tall so in the states he would be OK using the booster but I am keeping him in his convertible till he grows out of it. Traveling with the large Britax Marathon isn't ideal and the booster seems like the easier option but I don't want to get to the rental car place and find out that they don't have a rental carseat or that the booster is not allowed for his age/weight/height.
DH simply took a booster for DD last summer when they went to Montreal. She was 6. I have never heard of anywhere that requires convertibles for children that age/size.

You can use a high back booster for him if he's at least 40 lbs and 4 years old. Please make sure that you practice at home first, so his first time using it isn't on the trip. Also consider that you will need to be more vigilant about making sure he's sitting up straight, not reaching for things, or slumping over when/if he falls asleep if he's in a booster.
