Surprised no one has brought it up yet. But obviously none of us is surprised by the situation, right? So gross. Hope this is their downfall. I feel so bad for those girls and all the Duggar kids really.
I think this response is so disgusting. Child molestation is not just some teenage mistake. And they don't even mention the victims. Just Josh and how he realized he was ruining HIS life. Those poor girls.
I feel really bad for Anna and his kids. Even though she knew, she was so young and sheltered...hard to have a good perspective. I am also unsure on how to view Josh. It is obviously awful, but he WAS only 14. Which makes me wonder a bit to what extent he is also a victim, either of some kind of direct abuse himself,or of being raised with some very warped ideas about sexuality.
And of course, the girls...how sad. I really wonder what kind of dynamics were going on in the family after this all went down!

I'm sure their repressed sexual upbringing had a lot to do with it, but a 14 year old knows what they're doing. And he knew it was wrong. I mean assuming it was the four oldest girls, the youngest would have been around 8.
ETA: I would feel more sympathy for Anna if she hadn't known. I'm actually pretty appalled that she (with her parents approval!) married him and procreated.

So upsetting, but given how repressed their culture is it's not surprising. I hope CPS investigates both Josh and Jim Bob and Michelle's households because I can't imagine he was the only abuser.

4 of the girls were his sisters for sure. they say in the report that they live at home with their mom Michelle and their dad Jim Bob on the interview pages.
Jana, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joyanna are the 5 oldest. the other girls were all really young or not born since they had a bunch of boys in a row.

I can't believe Anna knew.
Joy Anna was the youngest girl at the time. She was 4. In the interviews, one of the older girls claims she was never touched, which pretty much confirms that Joy Anna was a victim.

ugh. I knew there were rumors about something like this before but I didn't imagine it was 4 of his sister's for over a year, and the family completely swept it under the rug.
I feel bad for the girls, having this blasted everywhere. I don't blame that one other girl for wanting the records destroyed to protect her identity.

I very rarely feel a strong desire to physically hurt someone, but I really just want to grab them around their sanctimonious necks and squeeze all of my anger out. Disgusting, vile, sorry excuses for human beings.
Now maybe finally people will stop talking about the family as if they were the most amazing of parents and blah blah blah. I totally missed the part that they were small children and his sisters when I skimmed the articles. HOLY SHIT. That's all I've got.

The articles don't come out and say it was his sisters, but the police report makes it pretty clear. It's disgusting.
It's more disgusting that so many people are defending them. Because guise, all teenagers make mistakes. And he's sorry. And his victims forgave him. Gross.
I am super excited to see the Duggar empire crumble. The police report is actually infuriating to me though, and I imagine indicative of how few fucks people in their redneck town give about stuff. Sure, the victims' names are redacted. But any idiot with basic cable who has math knows who the victims are with the other info they gave out. And that is really, really fucked up.

I don't know... There are people on my local news page who are all, "the police report doesn't say it was his sisters." Umm, yeah, it says exactly that.
But, yeah, I agree with you. Those poor girls haven't been protected at all. Ever.

it basically says which sisters it was, too. The one who says she wasnt touched also said she was getting her GED. There is only one girl who was 16 in 2006 when the interviews happened.
This made me so sad. We all (here anyways) knew something was *wrong* with that whole duggar tribe. But omg how awful. The women in that family have it bad, makes me wonder what goes on behind the scenes.
Ugh. Awful. And the fact the family/church protected him.

I know we all joked about one of them doing a tell-all one day, but ugh. I imagine there is so much awful going on and being covered up. So sad.
It really is sad. It's very unfortunate to have it dredged back up (for the sake of the girls I mean). I'm not excusing his behavior by any.means.
But I can't say it discredits their beliefs or their ministry because Christians are at heart, evil people who have chosen to accept Gods forgiveness for all manner of evil. He apologized and those involved say it's been dealt with and forgiven. (Now before you flame me to high heaven, i can't say I'm sure that those girls have been as well supported or counseled as they should have been. I'm frankly kind of worried for them). I'm just not sure it's doing anyone any good to dredge this back up? Of course they aren't perfect...no one is. It shouldn't be a surprise that there's yucky stuff in their past (again, this is NOT ok, and should have been handled differently back then IMO).
The Bible is full of people who made TERRIBLE choices, adulterers and murderers, liars and thieves...all people God loved. Not because of what they did, but because He chooses to. Believing in Him and serving Him doesn't mean you won't screw up (even terribly), but He will forgive us if we ask.
It says something that he was upfront and repentant about it (not trying to hide it or brush it off)...but again, I worry for those girls on many levels and really do hope they are ok. Just very sad all around.

I don't see his confession as upfront and repentant. He literally had no other choice. They had a police report from his siblings spelling out exactly what he did. If he said he didn't that was calling his siblings liars. The gist of his statement was he stopped because it would ruin HiS life. Not because it was terrible to do to his victims. I don't believe he's sorry at all and I don't buy praying made him all better. People who molest four year old children need serious mental help. I would bet money he is still doing it and/or will again. After coming out and saying gay and transgendered people don't belong around kids and are essentially monsters I'm not at all surprised he's the one who is a monster.
I totally agree he needs serious help. And the girls too. I especially worry about that oldest one...it seems like she's the most oppressed?? (We got rid of cable about two years ago so I don't watch the show...so that opinion may be off)
And this is where Christianity loses me. Someone spends their whole life doing good works but is an atheist? Hell!! You do some ducked up shit and ask forgiveness and you repeat the cycle over and over? God loves you, heaven!!
But no one ONLY does good works. Everyone does wrong things.
This is totally messed up behavior and of course should NOT continue or be excused. The Bible never gives a free pass to keep on making terrible choices. People who love God are to strive to be like Him...this clearly falls short of that. But we all fall short. Most people would say they are doing better than this guy's choices...but we've still all screwed up.
Our choices aren't without consequences and in Hebrews it says to keep on making bad choices and assuming God will forgive you just because you say you believe in Him is really rejecting Him. Truly being repentant and seeking Him is very different that just saying some words or doing a dance or whatever you think it is you have to do, and then turning around and doing wtf you wanna do cause "hey I'm covered." But we will all make mistakes through our lives and there is no limit to Gods forgiveness for those who truly want to honor Him.
I don't know these people or their hearts or decisions, my point is just that Christians can suck just as much ...if not more...than others...but it's not us who are perfect, it's the God we love who is perfect.
I mean...it sounds hard to believe that it's that easy but it's also very freeing to know all you have to do is accept that He loves us enough to die in our place for all our crap choices.
