to have on vinyl? H wants a record player for his birthday and I bought that and all of the Beatles albums. What else? What are some classics to have? I'm thinking maybe Led Zeppelin or Rolling Stones. I know he likes Rush (lol). He's a fan of a lot of the classics, has a huge range of music interests. Likes classical as well.
What are some good ones. Anyone? He's not a fan of Lenny Kravits.
Man, I haven't listened to a record in so long. I can't wait until my mom trusts me enough to give me my dad's collection. lol. Besides his Fleetwood Mac records (also love their self-titled album), I always enjoyed listening to his James Taylor Greatest Hits album.
See, you and I are eye to eye on music tastes! I'll be buying your suggestions for myself, lol.
I was making fun of H a little. Like, we've progressed so far we're reverting back and now he wants a record player. But I'm actually really excited about it.
I don't know if it's good on vinyl, but all this talk about old school music has pretty much guaranteed I'm going to listen to Paul Simon's Graceland album tomorrow.
Okay. I'm torn between Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.
You could always do both?
I know but I want to get him a variety and have already spent a lot on record player, speakers, Beatles albums and some super expensive computer books that were on his Amazon Wishlist. I think I should only buy him maybe five or six more albums.
Is classical music wasted on vinyl? I know Moonlight Sonata is his favorite classical song but not sure it's great on a record player. I know nothing about this. Opinions?
An odd choice but one of the biggest sellers of the time was Peter Frampton "Frampton Comes Alive." KISS would be DH's choice. One I always loved to listen to in the car was Billy Thorpe "Children of the Sun" but you need surround sound for that one. Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic" (or pick another but that was THE Aerosmith album back in the day) Kansas Boston (!!!!!!) The Who - Tommy or Quadrophenia The Doors
Nirvana - Nevermind (if you want to go a little more current).

Bruce Springsteen - The River and Darkness on the Edge of Town Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker and Cold Roses John Coltrane - Lush Life (not sure if he's a jazz fan, but just in case) Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead and American Beauty The Band - Music from the Big Pink
I've always had a record player. We just upgraded to a super fancy one last year. Mark another notch in the hipster column of the spreadsheet, dudes.

It's not classic rock but Nina Simone and Sam Cooke sound amazing on vinyl. Nina Simone gets a bit expensive used but a lot of hers have been re-released.
Black Sabbath
Aerosmith has been mentioned but I particularly love their 1st album with Dream On on it.
Derek and the Dominos - Layla and other love songs
This is sooooooo hipster, but Francois Hardy on vinyl feels like going back in time. Or being in a Wes Anderson movie, lol.
