I worked all day, off and on one during down time at work, using a bundle of assorted colored pencils that I've collected over the years. I had four of the prismacolor brand and they were BY FAR the best. They had rich bright color that went on smoothly. Some of the other pencils were so pale in comparison, even if I pressed harder, even the "bright" jewel tone colors looked more pastel. Ordered a full set of 48 prismacolor pencils tonight.
I am no good at this. How do you figure out what colors you want to use together? I have a thing of various colored pencils to use- yard sale for the win!
The one I posted that I'm working on, except for the vines, I've seriously been just closing my eyes and grabbing colors to use for each piece of it.
The rest of them, I've just been kinda going with whatever feels right.
