My DD doesn't tantrum yet at 16 months. When told no she just looks at you, smiles and says "Hiiii" in a cutesty voice and keeps on doing whatever she's not supposed to be doing. When redirected she just moves onto the next "no" thing. This is normal right? Complete lack of tantrums?
10 months is actually the normal time, right? Right? Please?
Seriously!! I still remember when DS was about 12 or 13 months, he threw an epic tantrum and rolled around the floor for like 45 minutes. That was a fun day.
J started around a year bUT they were and still are few and far between. They also generally just involve crying. The girls on the other hand started right around a year. They throw their heads on the floor and scream and cry or flail when you try to pick them up. They have some great tantrum moves lol.
Pretty much daily we get one because they grab their coat if it's on the bench, go to the door, and go point outside Etc. When we tell them they can't go outside right now the tantrum starts. K just had one like this a few mins ago. I heard her downstairs.
Enjoy it! To answer your question, I feel like the totally irrational toddler tantrums started fairly consistently in response to "no" around 18 months. Once he realized that "no" meant he couldn't have something, it was all over.
Now, understanding and listening to "no" when I tell him "no throwing food?" or "no chasing the dog"? Different story.

Around 12-13 months. But I will say even now at almost 20 months, they're not regular or terrible. She does a dramatic "faint" to the ground when she doesn't get her way but the screaming/crying thankfully doesn't last too long (yet).

DD started mini tantrums somewhere around 10-12 months. At this point (15 months), they're still not full blown tantrums, but she will throw herself down on the floor and scream if she doesn't like something (usually me taking away my phone). They're generally few and far between, and short lived. I know it's only a matter of time until they pick up, because she's getting more strong willed by the day.

Mine started around this age too and my mom told me the earlier they start the earlier they move out of that stage. She could have been completely lying to make me feel better, but it did help me psychologically deal with them. I do think my daughter aged out of them earlier than some of her peers.
Mine did what they did starting around 2. Honestly so far I have only had 1 of 4 that tantrums more than very rarely. Now DD4 is 26mo & pouts instead of tantrums most of the time. My DD1 had epic tantrums though...she broke a door once.
DS1 started at about 15ish months. They went into full swing by about 18 months. And by full swing I mean that my child does nothing half-assed. He was the king of the epic meltdown. But luckily it went away at 3.
22 months was when DD started doing the throw herself down on the floor, roll and around and howl kind of tantruming. I perfected the ability to scoop her up with one arm, avoiding her feet in my face, and carry her home that way while I pushed the stroller with the other arm.
DS is almost 10 months and has a harder time being redirected now than a few weeks ago, but still isn't having what I would call all-out tantrums. He can practically pierce my ears with his screaming when he doesn't get what he wants, though.
DS1 is 4 and I can probably count on one hand the number of actual tantrums he has had. He's gotten upset and stomped around or what not, but usually can be distracted from what he was upset about. He's generally pretty calm and laid back.
DS2 is almost 14 months and.... is not the same. lol. He already throws himself backwards in anger and screams.
But then we had the throw yourself on the floor kicking & screaming I'm going to bite my moms fingers if she tries to buckle me into my car seat type shit.
He also never whined until the baby came. Now errrrrything is in this whiney crying voice but at 4 yrs old....HELP!!

DD is a little over 13 months and has started having small tantrums. They don't last long but she will place herself on the floor and start rolling around from side to side while crying. When she gets angry, she also grabs at her stomach and pulls her shirt. Last night, she did this thing where she tilts her head to the side and scrunches her face up. I just stare at her until it is over. I'm hoping this is normal. Please, say it is normal.
DS started at about 11 months but they are very short - i.e. I take something away, he crumples to the floor, cries for 20 seconds, and is done. I am expecting this to get much much worse.

18 months-2.5 for toddler tantrums for us. 2.5-4 was beyond tantrums to "OMG. What has possessed my child". 4+ Very little tantrums, but sass and attitude. 8 has been awesome though.
