XP: Well there goes my day/weekend

Since I posted about our big weekend plans in the other thread, I thought I would share my sadness that it won't all get done now.  

We woke up this morning to the sound of water running.  In the house.  Something is wrong with our boiler and water was gushing out or the overflow valve.  GUSHING!  

We have an inch of water in our basement.  FML.  

Soooo, now we are waiting until 8 when the local hardware store opens so we can get mops and buckets and a couple of those hot air fans to dry it all out.  

I am sure me tentatively rushing around the basement (so I wouldn't fall in the water since painted concrete is damn slippery) in my underwear and t-shirt trying to get the water shut off while swearing like a sailor and yelling for DH was pretty funny.  I am trying to find humor in the situation.  Sigh.  My feet are still freezing since the water was so cold.

Isn't this the kind of thing that you call your home owner's insurance about?

My mom had some sort of leak and called her indurance and they had people there with blowers, cleaning up the water pretty quickly.

Hmm, I am not sure about that.  Might be worth a call, though we have a pretty high deductible so not sure it is worth it since I don't know that the clean up would be more than that.

almost 3 hours in and I almost have all the standing water up. Thank the good Lord for the wet vac.

My parents have a carpet cleaner so we are going to see if that will help with getting the water out of the carpets after I wet vac them.

I don't even want to think about going through the soaked boxes yet or I will get totally depressed.

Ugh I'm sorry. I hope nothing was damaged beyond repair. You deserve a weekend do over.
