Lucas Alexander was born at 5:34 am on 5/23/2015. That's 40w5d. He weighs 8 lbs 12 oz and is 20.5" long.
PDQ the super huge picture - I don't know how to resize it in tapatalk.
(Yes, I posted the wrong time of birth on IG - they told me the wrong time.)
It was a long and sucky labor. He was having decels after contractions and was a little bit transverse, so he couldn't descend easily. They encouraged me to get the epi right away so I'd have it in case the decels got worse and they needed to do a c-section. I got no sleep because they kept moving me, including having me down on all fours with an epi, which is a really weird feeling and takes a lot of effort to do. Eventually it was time to push. It only took a few pushes to get him out, but it did result in a 4th degree tear all the was through to the rectum, so awesome. It took over an hour to stitch me up. I'm kind of terrified about the recovery, so if anybody has reassuring stories to tell, please share them!
Other than the tear and being exhausted, we're doing fine. I can't get him latched on one side yet, but I'm pretty sure it's just a coordination issue because I'm still all shaky and tired.
I had a third degree tear in that direction too. It was definitely painful, but I promise you will recover. Start taking your stool softeners right away!
Congratulations! He is a cutie!. I have a grandson Lucas also. Love the name!
I have a 4th degree with my first, and I remember it being painful for the first days, but nothing that pain pills, ice packs sitz baths, etc didn't handle. For sure take the stool softeners.
They did give me pain pills with codeine for the first couple days.
