can you take bakery goods through airport security?

My husband brought me back a little cake from my favorite bakery in Austin last time he visited there. It had to be xrayed, but it was fine.

My mom just packed a ham in her carry on for an Easter trip to visit my sister.

So I am sure baked goods are fine.

Actually, I just remembered that I brought back a bag of pain Au chocolat from Paris, no problems.

I brought a box of bacon maple donuts from Voodoo Bakery in Portland all the way back to Phila. Many people in the airport and on the flight recognized the pink box and kept asking us for one.

MIL brings food with her every time she visits us. When we lived in Egypt she used to bring us like 15lbs of bacon every time she visited. Now it's mostly lamb meat and hard to find ingredients for middle-eastern food MH likes.

But cupcakes are fine.
