I'm a former knottie that has wandered over here. I haven't joined a new board in a very long time, so I feel kind of awkward just jumping in, and even more awkward making an introduction thread.

Went to a wedding celebration last night that was a total ML disaster but had fun anyway. -ceremony was in February, just having a party now -hors d'oeuvres only, started at 6:30 -mostly cheese and crackers, also included tacos (not for nothing, but it's my #2 pg aversion after lettuce *shudder*) -no soda, just beer and wine and water.
Everyone danced and had fun, though. at one point the floor was shaking (dancing was on the second floor) and I really thought it was going to cave in. Luckily it didn't!
Annnnddd I realize I never put our card in the basket. Looks like I'm mailing it with a "baby brain is REAL" disclaimer lol

I'm up early with DS, even though it's technically H's turn. H had a headache last night, so I told him to sleep in, and I will sleep in on Monday. I kind of feel bad about that, because I also have to work tomorrow, so H will be with DS for extra time. Oh, well. I'm not doing morning wak up unless I absolutely have to.
Two weeks until SIL comes to stay with us for six weeks, and we the only things we have done to prepare the guest room have been to buy curtains and a shower curtain. We still need to clean all the junk out of the room, take a bunch of clothing donations, put up the curtains, get a new bed for the room, get the bathroom in working order, move a dresser in there, etc. Oh, and organize the rest of the house before my in-laws visit in three weeks. And I just can't get myself motivated to start.
13 brutally warm awful miles done. Fuck FL I hate the heat here :-( this sucks bad already. It feels like July/august out there. I will die Soon I'll finish cleaning, pick up the steaks to grill tomorrow, the get ahead in lesson plans and who knows what else may pop up.

We are smoking a ton of bacon today. Hopefully my cans of tomatillo salsa and pickles all sealed so checking on and putting those away. That's all I got for now.
We are at my parents house. My aunts and uncles and grandparents are coming over today. It is raining outside. I am going to be on people overload. Also no one ever leaves so they will be here allllllll day.
So I am down in the basement trying to enjoy a tiny bit of silence before it begins.
My baby is so stuffed up and has been for over a week. When will this end??? We're both so tired of it.
MIL helped me figure out a gallery wall I've been wanting to do and I'm going to put it up today. I'm so excited to finally get this project out of the way.
I haven't even seen the first Pitch Perfect. It's one of those movies that I'm sure I'll enjoy, but not something I'll actually seek out. Same with Bridesmaids.

This weather is rather rude!
That would kill me! I enjoy social gatherings, but I just have to have some me time.
We're supposed to have severe thunderstorms today, so that's kind of neat. They said 20-25 mm of rain. We had a crazy rain storm last spring and our whole street flooded, so hopefully that doesn't happen again.
I have been listening To my 2 year old screaming and tantruming over everything for the last 3 1/2 motherfucking hours. Oh, And my dog has been puking since 3 o'clock this morning.
Fuuuck!!!
Ugh, I'm sorry anything you can distract 2 year old with for a sanity break? Like something he/she isn't used to being able to do? Paper and crayon, mix up some play doh, fill sink with water and let him/her float boats, mix cornstarch and water and it's like perfect playing quick sand type thing, but dries and cleans up SO easily.... my now 16 y/o ds was a difficult toddler (still is, he's on spectrum but anyway) and sometimes I just had e fucking nuff and had to pull out something anything to distract, a new thing he didn't do often.
not sure where you live, but mix baking soda and shaving cream makes cold "snow" to play with so if you're in a warmer climate, thus may be a novelty for your toddler.

That sounds horrible! I'm sorry
I haven't seen a really cool thunderstorm in a long ass time.
I just finished my lunch, just a simple pasta dish. I wish I had about 10 times as much, lol.

My bday is tomorrow so I'm glad it a holiday. But my job perks suck so it's unpaid I love my job but we really don't have any benefits. Like, at all. 0 paid holidays. Ten paid days off all year, this is sick and vacation combined. We accrue it so slowly it really is almost comical.
I want to leave so badly because I need/want better benefits, but im in a specialized industry and if I leave I won't find a job in the same industry, so I'm so so torn. It's driving me nuts.

I think it wouldn't hurt to look and see what else is out there. Send out some apps, attend a few interviews, that sort of thing. Try to get a feel for what else you could do. How different would other industries be compared to what you're already in?
We're going to try and do some yard work before the rain comes today. Then I think we're going to see Pitch Perfect 2! I love that I don't have to work tomorrow.
Today we're going to finish cleaning out the garage and start on the kitchen cabinets. I keep telling myself that it's going to feel amazing when we finish this massive purge, but right now all I want to do is lounge around.
Another busy day here at the Nomad household. Basement is mostly dry but we need to get my parents carpet cleaner to try to get the rest of the water out of the carpet. That is DH's job since he was sick yesterday and I did all of yesterday's clean up.
2 people showed up yesterday to help spread mulch (I put the word out on the neighborhood website that I was paying to spread mulch) we got the front yard done and most of the garden. Woot! And I had over 22,000 steps for the day. On the negative side, 10 yards was not enough for front and back yards and the garden. I need to order another 4-5 yards Tuesday for the backyard.
So on today's plan: Finish up the last of the chicken wire install on the fence, install the last garden gate panel, mow the back yard, bag leaves, put up the yellow jacket trap, finish mulching the garden, suck water out of the carpet downstairs, try to plant some seeds, then a long hot shower and bed. There is a chance that one of the kids that was working yesterday will want to work again today. I sure hope so. The backyard looks like a jungle and we are 2 weeks out from the big party.

I've been sending my resume out to jobs here and there, and have gone on two interviews, I was offered one but decided against it due to scheduling.
im in the MMJ industry so any other job would be vastly different. I love what I do. The patients are all (by and large) fantastic and their success stories keep me going i just hate the lack of benefits. I ran let's face it, they're making bank, so it makes it worse how few benefits we get. I could maybe understand if we were a non profit, but come on. I SEE how much $ comes in. I know they have expenses of course, but really.
I'm sitting on the deck drinking coffee, debating a grocery run today vs. tomorrow.
We have tickets to a 3:00 screening of Avengers at a theater with assigned, comfy seats. Otherwise no real plans for the day, and no pre-Monday stress to get EVERYTHING done today.

I can understand that! That lack of benefits is really tough, are there any other pros that balance it out?
But you could probably find that same level of satisfaction in a different industry/job with more benefits.
My housewarming party yesterday was fun. Eleven people showed up which was more than I expected it being Memorial Day Weekend and all.
The only things planned today are church and grocery shopping. That's awesome because I feel like H and I have been go go go since February when we started house hunting.
