How far along were you when you scheduled? How far along were you when you took the class? What did you take?
Im 11 weeks and just checked the schedule. There are only 2 sessions that suit me either 18-24 weeks (better in terms of work schedule) or 30-36 weeks not as ideal with work schedules. This is for child birthing basics. They also offer baby basics, breastfeeding, and hospital tours. Thoughts?
I will be 23 weeks Monday and I haven't signed up for anything. We have decided to forgo birthing classes but do plan on taking the infant care/infant CPR as well as doing a hospital tour. I looked at the schedule and think we will end up taking them in early August when I am 32ish weeks. I feel like if I take them too early I will forget things.

At 27 weeks I tried to register for classes and all were booked through the rest of this pregnancy at 3 different health systems :/
We are going to sign up for an online childbirth class... I was able to get into the maternity tour since there are tons available. We also found a baby care class, which we took already. It was kind of broad and basic, but was worthwhile since it brought up topics we didn't think of.
I didn't take any with my first because there was no such thing in our area at the time.
I took Bradley classes with my second because I wanted to become a Bradley instructor and you have to have taken the classes as a consumer and had a med-free birth before you can take instructor training. That class ran from 30-38 weeks, which was cutting it close but it was the only option for us.
I encourage people who contact me about my classes to take them sooner rather than later. Most curricula include exercises and stretches that encourage the baby to settle into the easiest position for birth and that condition your muscles to stretch and flex in ways the facilitate birth. The more time you have to practice these the better.
How far along were you when you scheduled? Somewhere around the 24-25 week mark
How far along were you when you took the class? All the classes are happening between 30 and 33 weeks. Would have preferred to wait til July to take these but DC is weird and everyone peaces out in July and August so it was difficult to find classes in July and August was too late
What did you take? Baby care basics Birthworks child birth class Hospital tour
I'm also trying to find a BF class and maybe an infant/child CPR and first aid

I'm worried I'm not going to remember stuff taking classes at 30-33 weeks.
As far as which classes, what I'd recommend (as a FTM who can't tell you what 'works') depends on what kind of birth you want and what you and H already know about babies.
I don't remember but it was pretty far - definitely 30something weeks. We took the hospital class, which included a tour, all their policies and procedures, as well as some basic birthing methods, techniques. I took prenatal yoga throughout my pregnancy and also took the hospital-required "relaxing birth" class in order to go intervention-free. I did not take a breast feeding class, but I wished I had. I was still successful, EBF for almost 15 months, but it was really tough at first.
This time I'll do just the hospital tour since I'll be at a different hospital and also it'll be 4.5 years later, I feel a lot has changed. I may or may not take another birthing class deepening on what we decide as far as VBAC. If my midwives feel I can do a TOL, I plan on taking a class that's offed by a local doula at the prenatal yoga studio up the street from me.

We're just finishing up our 4 week birthing class this week. It covered breathing techniques, all the different things that could happen during the birth, and this week is newborn care. I'll be 29 weeks when we finish, and according to the registration form, we're a little earlier in the pregnancy than the recommend, but scheduling wise this was the only session that worked for us. I also need to sign up for a breastfeeding class one of these days.

I signed up last week (around 18) because I heard they book quickly here. Neither H or I have much experience around babies so we figured any help was beneficial. The website said the optimal time was your 7th or 8th month, so I picked dates in that window.
Most of my students are late second tri or early third tri. I think 26-34 weeks is am excellent time to go. Not so early that you forget everything, not so late that you run the risk of delivering before you've finished classes.
I booked mine about 5 or 6 weeks ago, but they don't start until June 2nd. The class we want is very popular and she only takes a certain number of couples per session so hence the early booking.
I will be about 32.5 weeks when we start and 35.5 when we finish. It's three classes that are 3 hours each.
We're doing these classes more for H. I'm mostly interested in the breastfeeding portion. Because of that I wanted to book it a bit later into pregnancy so that it would still be relatively fresh.
I'm almost 32 weeks now and I registered for the classes about a month ago. I'm taking an infant care class (at 34 weeks), a getting ready for labor class (at 34.5 weeks), and a breastfeeding class (at 36 weeks).
I wish we had better options for the dates on birthing classes. I knew the timing was bad and paid for a class for late April through May. I knew I'd miss one class because of a wedding I was in. Then I ended up booking 2 out of town jobs and missed the rest of the classes, so we only went to 2 of 5. I know the last one focused on after birth care and breast feeding, and I am ok with that since I signed up for separate classes for "caring for baby" and breastfeeding. However we missed the one that practiced birth positions and although we have the sheet and I feel confident because a lot of the things are things I do in yoga already, it's still annoying that I missed out (and wasted money). I feel like if the class had not focused so heavily on nutrition and "what's happening in your body" during the first two classes I would have gotten more out of it, even with missing the second half.
I'll be 36-37 weeks for the other classes I signed up for, so I feel like that is better and things will be fresh on my mind.
