I was shopping at TJ Maxx and picked out out a pair of sunglasses. I was carrying them around in my hand looking at other things, and at some point must have forgotten that I was not holding my own sunglasses and stuck them in my purse. We went to leave (was with my SIL) and the alarm went off so we walked back in then tried to go back out and figured out I was the one setting off the alarm. The salespeople were like, "Oh it's fine, something you recently bought is probably just setting it off." I then looked in my purse and realized I had the sunglasses. I was SO embarrassed and went and immediately paid, as I had intended to do in the first place. Tons of people were staring at me and my SIL was dying laughing. Good thing they believed that I really hadn't tried to steal them, lol. The salespeople were going to just let me leave with them if I hadn't realized! Moral of the story is, don't try to shoplift from TJ Maxx. Or do I guess, since they seemed totally unconcerned at the alarm, lol.
I walked out of target with a set of queen sheets. I was with my BFF and she didn't even realize either. I was like OH SHIT. And walked right back in to buy them.

I always forget things on the bottom of the cart, usually because my kids stay in the cart and hide them from my view. I always turn around and go pay, thankfully it usually dons on me before getting to the buzzer area.

DD2 is a shoplifting fiend and super sneaky. As a baby/toddler she managed to grab things when my back was turned and I never found them until I was home. Thankfully, now that she's out of her infant car seat this doesn't happen anymore.

We see you trying to blame your kids for your thievery! Just FYI- on to you

Haha! Here, kids, sit on top of these things and don't move!
I went to target one day and when I went to change into my pjs that night, I realized I was wearing an unpaid-for Target tank top in between my tank top and whatever shirt I was wearing that day. lol.
I think I actually WORE IT BACK again the next day, took something into the fitting room with me and left them both in there. Ha!

I almost did this at Home Depot the other day. Picked up a few things inside, then went outside to the gardening section outside. Wandered around there for a while, then was like well I'm ready to go and started pushing my cart towards my car. Got about halfway before I realized it and turned back. Whoops.
I did the same thing at Michaels with a pack of hot glue gun sticks. I realized I had stuck them in my purse instead of my basket. I found them a minute later when I reached in my purse to get my list. I think someone saw me do it, because there was a manager waiting for me at the register watching the checker pull everything out of my basket. He was eyeing me suspiciously lol
I did it once at CVS. I was helping the kid bag my items as he was ringing them up. I guess I got ahead of him because when I got home I realized that the bill was not as much as it probably should have been so I dug out the receipt and looked. Yup, no moisturizer on there. I went back the next day to pay and the manager told me not to worry about it. Lol.
When I was about 3 my mom was looking at some expensive rings in a jewellery store. I wanted to see it and they let me. We got halfway home before my parents realised I was still holding it. It was like a $2,000 ring lol. Apparently when my mom brought it back in the sales woman was just like "Oh." and took it back. No thank you for being an honest, decent person and probably saving her ass from serious trouble with her boss or anything.
I've also accidentally walked out of a grocery store with a candy bar in my jacket pocket. I walked in intending to only get a couple things so I didn't grab a basket. I had a bunch of stuff in my arms and I went to pick something else up and slipped the candy bar in my pocket so I could carry everything a la My Cousin Vinny. Completely forgot about it until I got home.

When I was a teen, I was looking at some lipstick. It slipped out of my hands and couldn't find where it had fallen. I ended up not buying any that day, but when I got home and took off my jacket. I found it in the cuff of my pants. I couldn't have done that intentionally if I had tried.
I walked out of Walmart with a giant economy box of diapers once. Didn't realize what I'd done until I got to my car. Went back and paid of course. No one had even noticed though and no alarm even went off!
I once wore a pair of sunglasses out of TJ Maxx on my head. They only had a tiny price sticker on the arm and I'd been trying on multiple pairs. I didn't realize they weren't mine until a few hours later. They were like $8. I didn't go back.
I did the purse thing at a nail salon. Picked my color out and then couldn't find it anywhere when it was time to have my nails painted. Found it in my purse later!
