Yeah, I used bumpers once they could move around enough to bump their heads or get stuck in the slats.
Then again, I sometimes put Ella down on her stomach out of desperation.
Uh, so now? lol
I freaked out a couple nights ago because I could hear DS on the monitor, but couldn't see him. He had turned himself 90 degrees and was banging his head against the slats.
Go for it. I think so so much of the sids prevention stuff applies in very few cases (maybe that's a dangerous mindset?). I plan on getting breathable bumpers in the next week or so. I also have put ds on his stomach since we moved him to the crib at (a very late) 7 months. He hates being on his back so much that he fffflips out and stiffens up, rather than, I DON'T KNOW, ROLLING OVER?! ::straightens shirt and clears throat:: So yeah. Do what ya gotta do.

I still put her down on her back, but she flips over in 2 seconds. She takes up every square centimeter of that crib, flopping around in all directions.
This is DD. I had to put bumpers when we transitioned from RNP to crib because that girl takes up every inch of her crib and got an arm stuck right away. She also flips over but I still lay her on her back. People ask if my twins share a crib....ha! Poor DS wouldn't get any sleep.
We've used the regular bumper since she started in her crib at 7 months with no problems. She also sleeps on her stomach, but she always turns her head away from the bumper. I say go for it, even with a regular since she is rolling!
