The guy in the office next to me is like a bazillion (or 4) levels above me. I have a decent working relationship with him, and he use to be just 2 levels. And he is usually a pretty nice guy, albeit ineffective but that's for another post...
He has a big office, and lots of closed door meetings. And he has a tendency to swing the door and let it slam. Loudly. Constantly. It is driving me BATTY!! It's not out of anger, so at least there is that.
Think I could tape some weather stripping or something along the edge? I'm not sure talking to him would be productive. It's the type of thing that took me years to retrain my husband to stop doing *sigh*

oh man I feel you. the people in the office next to us have a door slammer. We have super heavy solid wood doors and they keep theirs closed because they bring dogs into the office with them. Every time she goes in/ out it's slammed so loud we all jump. I do not understand how she thinks it's ok. She's not in today, I can tell since it's been blissfully quiet
I'm going to go over tomorrow with my length of weather stripping and tell him I want to put some on the door. I expect he will laugh and say sure. We do have a decent working relationship so I think it will be ok. Just not so good I could yell "gently!" every time it slams. That's how I trained H lol
For anyone who wants an update: the weather stripping was a fail. It softened it somewhat, but we discovered the real problem was the window in the door is not tight and is rattling when the door hits.
But, the point was made. And he said he will be more conscious. We laughed bc he said I was correct in my assumption. It's usually when he is on the phone, he reaches over and hits the door to close it.

If it's the window that is rattling, you could try window putty all along the outside edges. That should hold it in place enough to lessen the sound.
