How do I phrase this?
I recently applied for a job at a somewhat big organization. I spoke to a contact there, who suggested that I directly email the hiring manager. She said I was welcome to use her name. So I wanted to reach out and say hey, I applied online but such and such suggested I reach out to you directly regarding this position. It sounds like you are doing very interesting work, and I am interested in learning more about this new position. I think I would be a great candidate because of blah blah blah.

I have been heavily involved in fundraising for 10+ years and its generally up to the hiring manager, even at the university level.
Right now I just want to get my foot in the door for an interview. There will still be a committee who will help interview, but its up to hiring manager to pick 4 finalists for a full day of in person interviews.

Yes RockNVoll I should have just emailed you directly. Can you edit out the text? That way its not searchable. Thanks. I actually already made a bunch of these edits to the draft I had in my email.
