Don't f with a mamma bear! Terrifying night

Warning, this is long. Dd and her BFF took off to dinner. Am hour later I go inside after just chilling on the back porch watching the bachelorette and Dh is yelling we gotta go now, dd's in trouble. I call her and she's screaming into the phone that he has a gun and flipping out. Tell her to run and hide. They are at the dog park at the front of the neighborhood and the line goes dead. We jump in the truck and haul ass. Get there and see the BFF along with some punk ass kid. Dd finally comes out of hiding. I storm over as he's tying to get something out of her car and i slam the door and confront the punk ass kid. He had no gun in sight so I went all primitive don't fuck with my baby on his ass. He claimed assault that I moved his hand off of my property. The girls tell me he threatened them and they've already called his parents who are on their way. Dh didn't even have to take a step near the kid. He finally told me he is 19 so I went off on him for threatening minors and go ahead and call the cops if he's so threatened. His parents pulled up and talked sense into him. He was the bffs bf who had been out of rehab for 3 months who we guess relapsed. Don't know what else transpired but dd knew to get to our neighborhood and we could be there sooner than the cops. Dh is a former marine and super protective of our baby girl. So thankful the kid didn't have a gun even though he said he did and that his parents were so attentive. I've got the girls back here with us and they've had their share of crying and thank god the BFF finally realizes she can't fix him and deserves better. Damn what a night.

Wow. Thats very scary. I dont understand why no one (them? you? someone??) actually called the police? And I'm WTFing all over the place that you think it's best that your DD and her friend tried to get to your neighborhood and call you instead of just calling the cops in the first place. She drove her car there and then got out and then called you? Jesus. What if this kid really did have a gun? If she'd just kept driving and had her friend call the cops then all of this could have been avoided. Kids can be stupid and think they can handle everything themselves, but dont feed into that by telling her she did the right thing. None of you did. Thank god it didn't end differently.

His parents pulled up about 2 minutes after we did. The girls were safe and he seemed a bit flustered and mad the girls called them. They put him in their car and apologized because the kid clearly has problems. I feel for them.

Cops also have guns that they're SUPPOSED to use to protect people. Again, why did the girls stop the car and get out? And why are you defending this as the best decision they could have made? They're kids, you have to give them the right guidance here. Guess what that is? It's not "Daddy's a fucking vigilante and we're on our way."  It's "CALL 911"
