I forgot about the purse I ordered from the Kate Spade sale. It just arrived today! As did part of my order from Anthro's sale. Retail therapy at the perfect time!
Holeee shit chalupa! That's nuts! I can't believe someone just ran an extension cord! Sorry that this project is costing so much but I'm glad it means that you'll be living in a safer house now!
So apparently RG still likes me as much as he did before, but thinks he should like me more by now and doesn't want to waste my time, so that's why he broke up with me. And he apologized for not being ready.
ETA: I teared up when I said goodbye to his pets and then cried when he hugged me goodbye.
Thank you. That part was hard to hear. Part of me wants to say "then what's the harm in continuing as things are a little longer??". But more of me knows this is for the best.
I cut the cord and turned in my cable box today. Woohoo. It was a short 9 months, but really what I learned is that TV is crap with the exception of the Walking Dead, Seinfeld and Downton Abbey.
ETA - oh and Better Call Saul.
Sometimes I miss cable shows that I can't get online. Mostly Starz and BBC shows. My sis DVRs the BBC shows for me (Doctor Who, The Musketeers, etc). For Starz, I just buy the season when it comes out on DVD. Right now I'm loving Outlander and Black Sails.
Contractor went to swap out the silly little shower/tub fixtures. The old ones are stuck tight, and he can't get them off without breaking the tile along with it. The other option to removing stuck-on handles is to cut it from behind, using the access panel. We can get to that with no problem, but the rough-in for my valves is 11". Standard size is 8". Not even specialty plumbing stores seem to have anything to replace a 11" rough in. Now that I spent the evening driving around to stores and begging for advice, it seems that the best option is for the contractor to cut the valves, remove the old handles, and drill new holes though the tile with the 8" spread. That will leave exposed holes, so I'll have to pay my reglazing guy extra to cut out those tiles and replace them with new ones before he reglazes the whole thing white.
Did I already mention the fun I had this weekend when we went to swap out the vanity light? Pulled out the old light, and an EXTENSION CORD pulled out of the wall with it. Some idiot ran extension cord through the walls instead of wire to power it. No junction boxes, no little electrical nuts. The extension cord was melted in places, so it's a miracle the house hasn't burned down.
While I'm glad a big issue like that was found and we could fix it with proper, legal wiring, it added $$$$ to the project. And now we have some custom plumbing that needs to happen, too. Here contractor - take ALL my money!
Wow. I'm glad it was found before something really bad happened. I've been finding issues with my house from previous owners. Luckily I have a decent plumber on call now.
