Reason for this poll: three coworkers and I were just discussing Chipotle because one of them wants us to go for lunch next week. She is the only one of the four of us who has ever been to Chipotle. I found that improbable, but perhaps I overestimate the extent to which Americans frequent Chipotle.
No I haven't. We have 2 within 20 minutes from our house but have never been. We've talked about it but usually when we decide we want Mexican, we go to one of the local places.

I eat Paleo and am in outside sales, and Chipotle, Qdoba, and Jimmy John's are my 3 go-to fast food places, so I eat there a lot. I get the steak taco salad with guac.

Before kids? All the time. After kids? Not so much. It's not that I won't take the kids, it's just that most Chipotle's around us have very VERY limited seating so it's hard enough to find a table for 2 let alone 3 and a high chair. Now we go to Qdoba.
I just picked it up and got back to my desk and there's this poll! It's the closest place open until 8 near my office that's takeout so I go frequently for dinner.

There are none where I live, but I've gone out of my way to try it when traveling. It's fine I guess, but not something I miss. And I LOVE Mexican food, lol.
Yes, and I started going 10ish years ago, when they were still few and far between and kind of a novelty. In fact, a friend was visiting LA from NY and wanted to go because he knew we had locations.
I love condiments, and I love build-your-own concepts.

Ever or never?
I was there once, maybe twice. I usually go to Qdoba.
Ever. Three of us have never been to Chipotle. She is the only one of the four who *has* been to Chipotle.

I'm still trying to figure out how the one in my town is still in business. We have way better hole in the wall taco joints that are cheaper and have larger portions.
I was a grad student in Denver when people told me about this new place across town that had amazing Mexican food. It was the original Chipotle. We'd make a run maybe once a month.
Then they expanded and opened up shop directly across the street from my campus I ate there at least once a week. As a starving grad student, I could make a burrito last a couple of meals at least.
Since they went national I haven't stepped foot in one in years. In part because DH hates Mexican food, in part because it's been a decade+ since I've lived near one.
It's one of my favorite fast places to get a lot of "quality" food. I see a lot of references above to Mexican food, and that's not how I look at it personally. I think more of it like a veggie burger to a cheeseburger. If you go in thinking it's going to taste like a cheeseburger then a veggie burger will be gross, if you go into it looking for a new thing to eat that just happens to be shaped like a burger then you have more of an open mind.
They opened a Chipotle in my town (about 15 minutes from where I live) maybe a year or so ago? Not sure. I've never been, it just really hasn't come up.

I used to be kinda 'meh' about Chipotle until I did a W30 last year and it was really the only place I could eat out where I knew I was compiling. I go there a few times a month now and love it. Qdoba was my mexi-casual place of choice though when I lived in Colorado - yum!

It's technically an SF mission-style burrito based restaurant. Not a Mexican restaurant.
I will say that I think Chipotle and Qdoba are pretty equal. Qdoba has queso, but Chipotle has the sofritas now. My favorite fast-casual-vaguely-mexican chains are Sharkeys and Rubios, though. I'd say Wahoos and Baja Fresh are a step below that, followed by Poquito Mas. Unfortunately, I only have Baja Fresh around me now.
