Fail 1: You didn't send me my welcome packet with the info I needed to get set up Fail 2: The bill you send has my monthly charge at DOUBLE, there's an installation fee you didn't tell me about (despite you doing literally nothing), and there's some other bullshit charge you didn't tell me about, nor do I want. Fail 3: I spend an HOUR getting this sorted out. Fail 4: New bill. STILL THE EXACT SAME.
I need vodka.
Oh, and we're in the boonies so I have, literally, no other choice.

They really are the worst. I would take Comcast over CenturyLink any day.
They came to my house and couldn't figure out how to install the cable properly (under totally normal conditions). We got a bad feeling about them and said never mind and went with DirectTv. Then CL proceeded to Bill us for months for service they couldn't even install.
Many times I called them I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. My advice (and what eventually worked for me) is that once you think a CS person has it sorted out, call again the next day and talk to another and ask if they see the correct info in their system. Rinse and repeat (seemingly forever...).
Our only internet option is centurylink and they are terrible. Really terrible and for paying 100+ for freakin internet, they cannot even give me a consistent signal.

They're the worst. I had an outage, and they kept telling me it was faulty wires or equippment in my house. And then they weren't going to send someone to fix it for over a week. Then they tried to tell me it was my router, told me I needed to buy a new $100 router. I did. I hooked it up, and still no internet. I was pissed. I called CS back, and they finally told me they would send someone out the next day. Know what he found out? It was a disconnection at a hub, 2 blocks from my house.
I guess I'm the odd one out. H and I had CenturyLink for almost 7 years with no problems and fabulous customer service. We were so sad that our townhouse complex has a deal with Comcast because it's already given us so many problems in the 2 months we've had it and we're stuck with it because we bought our house.

Hmm, really? Century Link messed up my bill again today and given my last bad experience (when they charged me an extra $110 and took 6 months to refund it) I so want to be done. But I've heard such horrid things about Comcast that I don't want to trade one horrid provider for another.
hamster sattelite isn't an option where you are? We've had DSL and DTV and have had less problems than we ever did with Comcast. can't speak to CenturyLink, I have managed to avoid that seeming nightmare so far.
It is, although when I asked MM about it it sounded like it should only be used when no other options existed.
I had issues with Directv at work for over 6 months and emailed their VP of customer care and it was handled within 24 hours. See if you can find VP contact info.

Yes, 100%. Not only was CL a nightmare when I tried to use them in Missouri at home, but also at my business in Colorado. So, so awful.
I had Comcast for years when I lived in CO. Yes, it was expensive, yes, they were fairly inflexible when I tried to lower my rate after my contract was up, yes, there were outages now and then. But, it was way way better than CL.
