Yup weird question! Getting ready for another play date with ds1 and some 6 year olds. Mostly they just play, but I like to have one or two activities ready for them. Do you think they would like this? They are big into being BFFs so I thought they might like matching coordinating shirts. They have to dry for a long time though right?

Yes. They need to sit a white. I remember wrapping each shirt in a garbage bag and leaving it in the sun to cure for a day or longer. It was really fun and a mess. 8m sure they'd love it.

I do it all the time (without kids). It's fun and easy. With kids, I'd make sure you stick to similar colors or just do one color, otherwise it might turn into a big brown mess.
My son's class just made tie dye shirts to wear for a field trip. After dying, the shirts need to sit for a day or so. Then they need to be rinsed with the rubber bands on, cut the bands, rinse again without the bands until the water runs clear, then dry. Then they should go through the wash once alone.
So... the dying part could be fun for them but it's definitely not an instant gratification thing.
DD picked this as the activity for her 6th birthday party. We bought the kit at Michael's and it was enough for 5 shirts. After they made them, I let them sit for a few hours and then rinsed and washed them. DD's friends were staying the night so I had time to do a few extra washes. They wore their shirts home the next day.

Get a kit or Check with dharma trading company they make great dye! Let them sit a few days Pick a max of 3-4 colors If you see white there will be a lot of white in the design, do the top then flip it over to do the other side The rit powdered dye sucks
