I'm starting this because I need to AW my parents. They live in CA (ya know, drought central) and their most recent water bill showed them exactly how they were doing with saving water. They average household with their size lot and number of occupants (2) used 187 gallons per day(gpd). The efficient houses used 106gpd. My parents, only 53gpd!!! I'm so proud of them! I know it wasn't easy for them to let their lawn die and to stop watering their plants but they've done it. To save the plants they really love (mostly their rose bushes I think) they collect water from their shower and my mom uses the leftover water from cooking (after boiling pasta, potatoes, etc). And apparently the water bill had a happy face on it which totally warmed my retired elementary school teacher mother's heart.
I have greasy spots on my shirt from where my arms were rubbing it after I put lotion on. I forgot that this shirt shows everything that touches it. I just need to donate it.
That's the guy that sells those books right? Oh, let me follow the link you put up. Hahahaha
We weren't even too sure at the time what he actually did. We just remembered him as The Question Mark Guy from those TV commercials where he's walking around Washington DC and screaming about money. We had to look him up online later.

We had to surrender our cat to the rescue we adopted him from this week and I'm devastated. He's 11 years old and we've had him since he was a kitten and he was my little buddy. But in 5 years since my 7-year-old daughter's initial allergy and asthma diagnosis we have not been able to prevent her allergies from getting far worse and we had reached the point that she was almost continually on prednisolone because we couldn't control her any other way (and we were working with allergy and asthma specialists nonstop). And that cats and dogs are her worst allergies, so no amount of constant cleaning and staying on meds was enough to safely keep a pet at home. I'm so sad, but the rescue was incredibly kind about it. We now have a no-pet household and that's a first ever for me and it's lonely.
Soooo, we've known since March 2014 that our campus finance office wanted to do an internal audit but never had a start date. My boss retires Tomorrow. New boss starts Monday, has plans to rearrange office responsibilities/roles but nothing can be announced until it goes through the red tape chain of ivory tower approvals. I've spent the past 5 weeks pouring through the financial details and building new spreadsheets/projections/training powerpoints to prep new boss, on top of my usual duties at the busiest part of my work cycle for the year. And I'll be out of the office the last month of June for vacation. This was planned over a year ago with several other family members involved. The fiscal year starts July 1, but normally that last week is pretty darned quiet, so it's a decent time of year to go. Normally.
Guess what office decided to announce the audit is beginning TODAY.
I think all of Oakland and most of the bay area is hung over today. And it is so nice that Riley Curry brings Steph to her press conferences.
I love her! I am pulling for them to win. As a huge Miami Heat fan, it feels strange to root for another team but she is so cute and Steph Curry seems like a nice guy. My sister moved to Berkeley almost a year ago and she has adopted them as her 2nd favorite team.
I just had a Publix sub for the first time. Delicious.
I love Publix! It is great that they don't have one here because I would be as big as a house. I love their cupcakes and getting a slice of cake on a whim.
