I wonder if my kid will be missing out since he will always be a full time daycare kid. I thought camps were large for kids of SAH moms/dads, no?
There are 2 kinds of camps around here. Summer enrichment for SAH or nanny families and all day camp which serves the function of daycare for school age kids.
I assume "summer enrichment" is the overnight camp. That's my definition of enrichment, anyway. FREEDOM!!!
Grandparents wanted to visit and take DD for a long weekend this summer - Thurs to Tues. I gave a "hell no!" I am not paying for camp for her to miss 2 days for 2 weeks. You can visit Mon-Fri and have just as much fun and SAVE me a week's camp payment.
They were the cheapest parents in the world, how does this stuff confuse them now?
I am sorry for you! That cabin on the right? I slept there 4 weeks out of every summer growing up
Kayaking! Archery! Swimming! Horseback riding! So fun. I can't wait to ship DS off when he gets older.
ETA: I don't actually feel sorry for you. You certainly turned out great.
Laz, where is that? That looks so FUN! It's similar to the GS and Camp Fire camps we have around here, and the state camps around Yosemite where I grew up but all the fun events! GD1 does one week at GS (overnight) horse camp, one at Bible Camp and one at Girl Scout day camp. She would love that place. Shoot, *I* would love that place. Glamp time!
In nowheresville FL. LOL. Mosquito's errywhere. It was really fun growing up though!

Summer enrichment in this context is like a 3 hour drop off class.
Sleep away camp is a whole different thing and for the most part starts at much older ages as far as I can tell.
I did read the Molly American Girl books when I was a kid and then packed a backpack and pretended that I went away to camp (in my room).
God, I was a loser.
This sounds like DD. She read a book called "Snail Story" a few days ago. She has been leaving the house (going to another room or back yard) and talking to the snail. She has her backpack in tote.
