I'm going to a friend's house and I was thinking I might try to bring sangria since it'll be nice. Only I've never made sangria. Does anyone have a great, tried and true sangria recipe they can share?

I prefer Mexican Sangria
Serves 6 2/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice 2/3 cup sugar 3 cups dry, fruity red wine, such as Beaujolais, Zinfandel 1 cup sparkling water Lime slices
Mix together the lime juice, sugar and ΒΌ cup water, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Just before serving, pour the wine into a pitcher and stir in the sparkling water and lime syrup. Serve over ice in tall glasses garnished with a lime slice.
I have an awesome peach sangria recipe that's a big hit. I'll have to look up the recipe, but it's a few bottles of white wine (Sauvignon Blanc and maybe a Pinot Gris), peach schnapps, frozen peaches, red and green grapes, and a splash of club soda before serving.

This isn't really sangria but that's what they call it. We had it at a pool, party this weekend and then made it for our BBQ the next day. It is tasty.....
If you're in a lazy mood, Whole Foods sells a brand of sangria mix in a bottle that is delicious. I forget the name but it is one of their "organic" varieties of sangria mix and costs around $12 - $13/bottle. My husband "made" this sangria several times last summer and passed it off as his own when people were like mmmm so delicious.
My favorite is a little unconventional because it's white.
2 lemons, thinly sliced 1 apple, cored and sliced 1 c. strawberries, hulled and sliced 1 bottle white dry-ish wine - Sauv Blanc or Chardonnay 1/2 c. white rum 4 c. Sprite
Add fruit to pitcher, pour rum and wine over top. Cover and refrigerate for 4-5 hours. Add Sprite and serve.
I had such good sangria yesterday at a restaurant. It had merlot, raspberry liqueur, muddled citrus fruits and juice (didn't say what kind on the menu). I posted another recipe that my sister made for Christmas, let me see if I can find it.
1. 2 Carlo Rossi jugs of Cab Sauv 2. A bottle of brandy (not a huge bottle, the smallish to medium size) 3. Bottle of triple sec. (Same size as above) 4. Some sugar (don't know how much, just aimlessly dumped it in lol) 5. Approx 10 each of diced oranges, apples, pears. Will add blackberries tomorrow before serving. 6. Tomorrow before serving, will also add a gallon of OJ AND 2 liters of club soda
1) dump wine in pitcher 2) dump fruit in pitcher 3) drink
?
If it's not, I don't have a good recipe for sangria.
No - there are other spirits that are added.
I can't find the one I use but I use a Spanish red, brandy, triple sec, orange juice, sprite, and of course fruit. There may be a third liquor that I'm missing since I'm going from memory.
Edit - as for transport - do you have a travel igloo or something? Not the giant 5 gallon ones, but I swear they used to have smaller personal sized ones.
This is my favorite recipe, we get compliments on it a lot. We usually make it with our homemade wine, and have done red or white. If we do white wine, we usually put peaches in instead of the lemon.
1 1/2 L Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon) 1 cup Sugar 1 large Lemon, sliced 1 large Orange, sliced 3-4 oz plain Brandy Soda water ==================
Instructions: ================== Mix wine, sugar and fruit, and let sit in the fridge for 18-24 hours. The mixture will have a somewhat syrupy consistency. Before serving stir in brandy and cut the mixture with soda water until it have a thinner, more wine like consistency. Serve from a pitcher in wine glasses.
1 (750-ml) bottle red wine 1/2 cup brandy or cognac 1/4 cup orange liqueur (recommended: Cointreau) 2 tablespoons superfine sugar 1/2 cup orange juice 1/2 cup club soda 1 medium unpeeled orange, sliced 1 unpeeled lemon, sliced
In a pitcher combine the wine, brandy, orange liqueur and sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the orange juice and club soda. Add the orange and lemon, and chill. Serve over ice.
