My AW: I was eating dinner with DH and we got into a conversation about how I miss running, and my yoga/spin/Crossfit studio has really filled the void for the past year plus, but I would love to run again if my knees cooperate (sidebar: was recently invited to join a work team).
DH asked why I have been more into powersculpt (hot yoga + weights) than Crossfit lately. I shared a few reasons with DH and then said something along the lines of, "but I'm still building muscle." Then it went something like this...
DH: oh yah? Me: yah! Really!! DH: Can you drop and give me 10 push-ups? Me: yah, no problem!
As I proceeded with a full belly mid bite to demonstrate my ten push-ups in near perfect form, DH said "well, you certainly couldn't do that a year ago. I'll admit, I'm impressed, good job MrsE."
YES!! Win!! there's my AW!
Haha - please share yours too so I don't feel so silly.
I am proud of my OWS series results. I overcame my fears and improved little by little each week. My last race (1500 m) was 32:08, exactly 4:30 faster than my first ever OWS 3 weeks ago. And I won a hat at the raffle!

My AW is that I went to my first track workout in 2 years. I was the only girl there, and I killed it. 200 - 400 - 800 - 1200 - 1600 - 200. My first and last 200 were EXACTLY the same, down to the second. And after the workout, the coach (who ran college XC and currently coaches track) told me that I had the most beautiful form and that not an ounce of energy was wasted movement. He has no idea how badly I needed that, it totally made my night!
Is it odd that I would much rather someone tell me I have beautiful running form than "damn grrrrrlll you look beautiful!"? lol.

That is seriously awesome and hilarious DH and I just spent 5 minutes comparing our quad definitions on the couch, beer in hand.
ps- I do selfishly miss you running though!
Gah! Me too. I was offered a fully paid team entry for the Army Ten Miler (one of my absolute favorite races of all time!!) and want to do it soooo bad.
This is going to sound ridiculous, but I'm AW-ing that I haven't run all week. It's been SO nice out, and I've really wanted to go, but I need the rest. So I'm proud of myself for not pushing when I don't need to and for taking time to just chill, eat some fun food, and drink.

My Run Through Adversity last night:
I always do my evening runs before dinner because H doesn't get home until close to 7. But last night, he was early so we ate before I ran. Bad idea. (Dinner was black bean/corn/rice bowls. See where this is going??)
After about a mile, my stomach started to gurgle. I hoped to find a nice spot in the woods at about mile 2, but that was the ONE night that there was a baseball game being played in the park. And I was wearing neon yellow. So I had no choice but to finish.
I made it. 4 miles in the stifling humidity, needing a toilet. The...discomfort was so bad that you can actually see it reflected in my stride length and my cadence stats on Garmin.
My AW is that I purchased an article of clothing that is not intended to wick sweat away from my body!
And also, I did legit weighted squats yesterday. I fucking hate squats, but I did them. And today I'm doing my longest ever bike ride, and tomorrow I'm going to do my longest ever swim.
At the gym last night a woman was being trained and saw me doing an arm workout and said "Hey look at that girl there with those awesome arms." It came at just the right time especially since I've felt a bit down about myself athletically. Woot!

I managed to do shoulder taps yesterday (like this but back to the wall: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1okSA32sFWs) - I hadn't been able to lift my hands high enough to actually touch my shoulders before, I'd just lift them a bit and put them right back down. So that was exciting!
And then I lost my balance and fell in a heap on the reps that I'd asked a friend to record so I could see how "cool" I looked. Oops
We're moving. We have a ton of halloween monsters/props/crap that includes an *enormous* gargoyle. He was in my way the other night so I squatted, wrapped my arms around him and lifted him up to carry him to the POD. DH came out a while later and asked where the gargoyle went. I told him. He asked if I had dragged him (which would damage the bottom). I said no I'm not stupid. So he just keeps looking at me and finally said, "Well I knew you were getting strong" and then walked off. Yay?
