There was a mom in one of my moms' groups who said she carried 99% of the time...even at play dates. We stopped getting together once I learned that.

Ugh, I just do not understand the need/want to carry a gun around with you. I'd have dropped her like a hot potato too Bc I would constantly be terrified of an accident happening.
Exactly. She's afraid of "all of the crazies out there." (Umm...yeah...about "those" people...)
I want to say that I wish someone would publish the odds of a gun actually successfully bring used to defend someone vs being involved in accidentally hurting someone. Just for argument's sake, take out the accidents that were by "irresponsible gun owners." However, the people who think like this will be swayed by nothing.
Have you met H's family? I think you have. Yes, most of them are all for this and post about it on FB. Arm the schools, y'all!
I would pull David out of the school if this ever happened. I'd fucking MOVE before I'd allow him to go to a school that had a staff with guns. I'd home school before this. Fuck. No.
Yep. I told my husband if teachers have to carry (I'm a teacher) I am quitting my job and we are legitimately moving to Canada or overseas. I REFUSE to send my kids to a school where they think the solution is to put guns in the classroom.

it's not a good idea to have a pencil around some psych ward patients, let alone guns...
I'm generally ok with guns for private citizens, but I feel uncomfortable with our school's police officer keeping his gun on him, especially when he's in plain clothes and playing with the kids, I don't need anyone else in the building to have a gun. there are limits.

My FIL showed up to my SIL's baby shower concealing a handgun. Look, I swear to god I would not believe this had I not seen it for myself but he tripped on his bad knee and it somehow flew out of the holster and hit a newborn in the face. We were all like .
I highly doubt that anyone will admit it on ML, though!

I used to work with a guy who carried at all times. In a holster. He was basically insane and also like 90% blind. My cube mate and I made our boss move him into a different room. LOL.

Is this... a joke? I mean, I feel like you're real and this is not a joke. But it reads like a bad joke. :/
I lied. It passed and is on the way to the senate.
If you're looking to head down the rage spiral even further tonight, Google Michele Fiore and the stupid shit she says. I can't figure out how the fuck she got elected.
How horrifying. Like I can't even imagine being there. I'm sorry.
I've been telling this story for years. I told it on the nest when it happened and I've told it at least one other time on here. It really was unbelievable and according to my H he STILL FUCKING CARRIES. I don't get it. MIL/FIL do not watch David anymore.
And that's exactly what my BIL posted on FB that night after everybody left. Yes, a bad joke. The baby wasn't hurt and the mom was understandably pissed. It was all just so fucking weird.
I looked up what OK passed, apparently schools can designate an employee to be armed on campus. The school pays for the training. This is in addition to the armed resource officer.
Seems legit
WTF? "Ok kids, stay here and lay low. I have to go play hero. Don't let anyone in the room."
This issue makes me so angry. I simply do not understand the reasoning being used by so many. We do not need guns. I was raised with rifles in my house and I know how to shoot, but it is never something I have ever contemplated buying for my family.

It breaks my heart that in most US schools that I know of kids have to do lockdown drills.

I was just coming to post this. Ugh. Come on Nevada!
I'm just hoping Michele Fiore is the main character in the Punk'd reboot. She is ridiculous.
Lol nah, one of my friends is a college professor and she posted And asked all her friends to call their state legislator today and tell them to vote against campus carry. Then crazy cakes shows up and starts mouthing off and being rude to my friend. I don't have patience for that shit.

Not at all. but there are 2nd amendments rights dipshit groups who have been trying to take stands on this issue and "show up" at school events open carrying, causing all kinds of issues. Assholes.
How devastating would it be if a student or faculty member were hit by someone who got trigger happy and had bad aim? I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing anyone walking on my child's campus could possibly whip out a gun anytime they felt threatened.

WHY do we think this is ok!?!?!?!
My four-year-old had a lockdown in his preschool last month so they knew what to do "in case a bad person got in."
I may have cried in my bedroom after I put him to bed that night.

This is part of the reason I have second thoughts about moving back to the US. Before I moved here, people warned me against doing do because of the threat of ETA (a theoretically now disbanded Basque terrorist group). However, I don't want my kids to grow up somewhere where lockdown drills are considered normal and necessary. I really pray that this madness changes. I simply cannot understand how some people don't see the need for a radical change. Again, I grew up with guns but I would not want them in my home if I were living in a place where they were permitted.
