We're starting to plan a Disney trip, so I always read these threads and always feel like I'm at the first day of work. Too many acronyms! Glad you're having fun. One question, since I know you're an expert. I have several friends who love Disney World. One hotel I hear recommended a lot is Pop Century. I also hear Boardwalk. Some Disney hotels are on the order of $125/night and some are $650/night. What makes the expensive ones worth the additional $500/night?
Location/proximity to parks, resort luxuriousness, amenities (pools, themes for the resort, etc.), dining offerings are the basic differences in the resorts.
Both get you onto Disney property and access to Disney transportation, extra magic hours, and scheduling FP+ at 60 days vs. 30.

Thank you for the information. Do you have an opinion on whether it's worth it? Because I know a lot of people think it is, but I don't see it. If we stay a week, that's an extra $3500.

There are some things that could be worth the differential.
Location is going to be the big one. Deluxe resorts generally give you better access to one park - some are within walking distance such as the Contemporary and BoardWalk.
We bumped up to a moderate because right now the values only come equipped with 2 double beds or 1 king. The idea of 4 of us in 2 doubles for a week wasn't appealing to me, so we moved up to the moderate level. Art of Animation does have queen beds in their suites.
I suggest reading through this site's review of the different resorts and seeing what differences are important for you. www.easywdw.com/category/resorts/
I'm guessing it helps refresh everyone too since it's not all family togetherness 100% of the time.
Except the snotty 14 year old girl is ALWAYS BY ME! Give me a freaking break. She has gone to the resort a few times because I told her either she goes back for a break or I'll kill her.
Time for some mom alone time to drink round the world!

We just stayed at Art of Animation last month, in a Little Mermaid room (so in the $140's per night) and it was a decent room. It was our first visit and we agreed that for our next trip, we'd splurge on a room closer to Magic Kingdom. Pop Century and AoA are just so far away from MK, which was by far my kids' favorite park at WDW. We had to come back to the room midday to rest and it took a lot of time out of our visit to wait for the bus and then drive to and from the hotel. On the map it doesn't look too far away, but it took a while. Next time we are going to stay at the Contemporary even though a basic room there is in the $300's - it'd be less of a big deal to go back and forth as needed because it's right next to MK on the monorail.
Glad you're having a great time, chilerellanos! Sorry to threadjack.

Just once in my life, I want to go to WDW and spend some $$$ on the resort! Just ONCE! We have always gone Value or Moderate and I want to experience the Polynesian while I have to $$$ to throw at it.
That being said, we love Pop Century. Haven't been to AoA yet, but I'm sure it'll be on par. And I toooooootally understand saving the $$$ on the hotel room to blow in the parks or for souvenirs or added experiences (like HPWorld or somesuch).
You are such a great mom! Really lucky kids and it is awesome to see you guys having so much fun. I know you had some really rough years there for awhile!
"Today, we woke up early because it was REALLY IMPORTANT for Natalie to see the opening show at MK. So we got there early and watched it (we missed it last trip because my H had to poop right before leaving!!)."
Chile- This is the funniest ( and truest) statement ever. This is my H like always... holding up the whole party... for a poop.

What an awesome trip! A lot of what you guys did reminds me of how we did disney with my parents when we were your kids ages, so that is fun! I am excited to bring my kids back when they are older and more flexible .
