One reason I love my huge quads is that maintaining such large muscles requires pretty high food consumption levels. I get to eat almost 3,000 calories a day for maintenance

This to me highlights how much my perception of bodies is affected by what I see all the time, even if I don't realize it. I follow a ton of Crossfitters on Instagram and used to find their bodies super extreme in terms of muscles, but now I've gotten more used to that look and as a result don't even think this woman's quads look that big! Definitely not a size that would make me walk up to her in the street asking to touch them (WTF?) or cause me to comment on a photo online.

And yes please, sign me up for the C-shaped butt!
Maybe he wanted to touch the C-shaped butt, but thought it might be more politic to touch the quad?
I often wonder if my quads look muscular. From my angle looking down they do but to others I think they look fat. I just need to walk around with flexed quads all day and see if I get a compliment.
Nevermind. I found a recent pic of me in a bathing suit and although the top half needs some work (definitely my thighs) my quads are very obviously muscular.
I'm not a fan that she says that to work out hard you should push yourself to puke. /tangent
Yeah, she bugged me. I'm not that kind of athlete and don't ever want to be.
I read this as in her particular sport/event and at that level, this is just the reality of life. Kind of like rowers seem to puke more than the average athlete. I didn't read it as a blanket "if you're not throwing up, you're not trying hard enough."
