the post about wreaths got me thinking. What's on your front door? Do you decorate in some way, or just leave it plain? And if you do decorate, what sorts of things do you like and do you change it at all for different seasons or holidays?
we just hang a wreath up at Christmas, but I'm thinking I'd like to do more after we move into our new house.
I dont usually put wreaths up anytime other than Christmas, (and I don't always do that), but last year I put one up for Halloween night...only because it was Jack Skellington. ; p
Another reason is that I haven't seen any wreaths that fit with my style or with my house. We have a kind of interesting door that I think looks better without adornment. Or maybe it is just me....in the past I was more apt to put a Christmas garland around the door than a wreath on it.
Oh speaking of which.. this reminds me, MIL got us a white "welcome" door decal last christmas.. I am terrified it's gonna look cheesy so haven't put it up.
For Christmas I put up a wreath, I'm still deciding what to do between the holidays and spring, for spring and summer I have a wreath and in the fall I have a metal leaf sculpture I hang.
I have a spring wreath and a fall wreath that I rotate. I would like to eventually have one for each season. Right now my spring one is out. Hmm, maybe I should ditch the indoor wreath idea for now and focus on acquiring a summer wreath first.
I am glad to see that I am not the only person who has a bare door. I didn't really know that wreaths were such a popular thing, other than during the country craft thing in the 80s/90s, until I saw thm all over the internet.
A lot of my neighbors here in FL have them, but I only knew a couple of people who had anything on their door other than at Christmas when we lived in CA. Growing up in AZ a zillion years ago, wreaths were for Christmas, and other than that the only thing that you might see on a door was a chile ristra...also more common at Christmas.

You know, I never really thought about it, but I guess growing up and in past locations that I've lived we've/I've only done wreaths/door decor for Christmas. However, now that I'm in a condo/townhome and can't really 'landscape' my front area so my door is the only way I can personalize the front of my home.

This is my current wreath. I'm stuck with the ugly yellow door due to my HOA, so need something to add interest to the front of the house. The black "Welcome" is a vinyl decal.
Currently, a thin layer of pollen. I will usually do a fall wreath and purchase a fresh pine wreath at Christmas. It's the least I can do since we have a fake tree.
A grapevine wreath with a burlap bow and a starfish. In the winter I cut branches off an arborvitae, gather them in a bundle, and throw a bow and ornament on them.
I made a burlap wreath like the one in the link. I change out the flowers/ribbons I put on it based off the seasons/holidays. . Right now I have some white, red and gray burlap flowers from Michaels in there with a white wood initial of our last name. I hot glue clips to the back so they can be switched easily.
A burlap wreath. I lucked out and found a DIY one that someone did at Goodwill for $3. I took off the ugly Halloween ribbon they put on it and added a nice sage ribbon with some fake Hydrangea and a letter for our last name that I got at the dollar bin at Target. So, for about $6 I have a really pretty wreath. I love it.
