My H just got a business trip to NYC approved for July and he asked me to come with!!! Wahoo! Other than the amazing amount of shopping I'm going to do, what should a girl on her own do in NYC during the day?

I was just there a few weeks ago and had one glorious day to myself. The Whitney just reopened and is pretty amazing. I love doing museums on my own because I can go at whatever pace I want, so I really enjoyed my stop there. I also did the Highline and Chelsea Market. Eataly is awesome, but may be less impressive coming from London.
We had a great dinner at Marta in the Martha Washington Hotel. Everything we had was good, particularly the white pizza with potato and egg.
This is where my brother has eaten since he moved to NYC a few months ago.
Keep in mind that some are not in Manhattan.

Central Park Take the Staten Island Ferry. It's the best free view of NYC Met Museum of Natural History If you are a poli sci nerd like me, UN tour Battery Park/WTC/911 memorial Food, my favorite is Babbo Good dim sum, duck, or pork belly in Chinatown
Speaking of eating, I've done a couple good food tours. Exact names escape me, one was of Greenwich Village and one was of the Lower East Side. Both very interesting and historical, the Greenwich Village one had slightly better food.
