I got mine 8weeks pp. I never had any bleeding at all. So no period from June '11 u till in had it taken out. I am not supposed to be on hormonal BC because of my clotting issues, but dr said this was ok because of the way the hormones were dispersed. Idk but I liked it. Can't say much about weight because I always have weight issues. H could sometimes feel the strings at first, but after a while he couldn't.
I hated BCP hormones and what they did to me - it was so subtle I didn't even realize that they were screwing with me until after I went off.
Are the hormones going to do the same thing?
She said the hormones are localized and since it's not systemic it's better...but I just don't know!
I was a mess on bcp's, but Mirena is okay. Paraguard was not an option for me, because I react badly to metals (even the surgical staples after my c/s). I have always had weight problems, but I was able to lose when I was tracking everything in MFP for the WLC.
Thank you for asking this Trudy, I've been thinking a lot about it too. It's not covered by my benefits, so I'd be OOP and don't want to make a mistake!
I will also say that I have been thinking about BC after we hopefully have another kid. I wanted a tubal, but my non-medicated period has been horrendous. So I may go with the Mirena again just to try and avoid my period.
ETA: in my perfect world, I will get Mirena and H will get snipped.
I still had a period every month. I had mine removed because my body was rejecting it and it was dislodged.
This happened to me as well.
I'm not sure what we will do for birth control after baby is born because I can't really take the pill and I refuse another IUD. I think DH may consider a V. If I end up with a c/s I will probably have my tubes tied but even that freaks me out a bit. We are 100% certain we are done with 2.

DH will definitely get a V once we're done having kids.

I bled for 3 months straight when I first got it implanted, also some moderate cramping, like teenage years cramps. Now I don't get periods but I do get some spotting every now and then. I like it.

I got mine 6 weeks pp with Harry and it's been great. Spotted for a bit, maybe 6 days or so and no periods or spotting since (got it in Sept). So far I love it!
My friend went to the Dr and was told hers had moved and was not in the correct position at all and she could have totally gotten pregnant. So that has kind of scared me from getting it in the past. (H will probably just get snipped after baby #4 comes.) I have other friends who havent had any problems with theirs.
Mine has been fine so far. I've only had it for a month though. Some real light spotting but that's all. I go back next week for my dr to check it one last time to make sure it's stayed in place. He did say it's recommended for you or your partner to feel up there for the strings every couple months. My sister also has one and has had no problems. She said she never checks for strings.
