I am guessing he wasn't just crying but throwing a tantrum and not staying contained in her lap? I have no idea. The idea of a 23 month lap baby sounds miserable to me.

Especially when she is 7 months pregnant.
I am inclined to side with her, United employees are the worst.
Yeah, there's got to be more to this story. I tend to think something significant has to happen, beyond just a pissy flight attendant, for a plane to return to the gate after have already pushed off and started to taxi, in order to kick off a child who at that point was just sleeping as the mother is claiming. Not buying it.
These were my thoughts exactly... but why are all the other passengers backing up her story? I mean, this has to be like the one millionth time there was a screaming baby on a plane and they never would taxi a flight back for that reason.

For all the times I was mistakenly booked on Screaming Baby Airlines, I would imagine there has to be more to the story.
If he wasn't seated, and they say he wasn't, I absolutely see why they did this. It has to be a hard line: ANYONE who gets up during takeoff and taxi is kicked off. Sorry that he's a kid, but them's the breaks. Otherwise the airline is all "well, YOU can stand up but not YOU" and they'll get sued out the yin yang and have fines levied for breaking federal regulations.
This is exactly why I was seconds from passing out from mombarrassment when L was 2 and trying to leave her seat and crawl in my lap during take off.

"Despite numerous requests, the child was not seated, as required by federal regulation to ensure passenger safety, and was repeatedly in the aisle of the aircraft before departure and during taxi. "

I think that the kid was likely out of control and in the aisle and they felt like she couldn't control him enough to feel confident that the flight was safe. Or that he would be safe while on the plane. But I'm just confused by all the accounts that he was a sleeping angel and they still decided to kick them off the plane. I guess no one wants to be the guy that comes forward and is like "Ummm... yeah they were actually terrible and I'm glad they got kicked off."

Really? I feel like people are all too eager to rip mothers apart.
Very true, but I feel like people also like getting behind an "evil flight attendant harassing a poor pregnant mother" story too.

Well, between mothers and airlines, most people would probably villainize airlines.
I've met her quite a few times and she's hung out with me and my kids and other times with some friends and kids. She was a super sweet person in those fairly brief encounters. I still wondered if there was more to the story, but I honestly have no less than 20 horror stories of United flights since that used to be the only airline dh and I could afford for our aussie flights all the time. So, I'm inclined to believe her side. I mean, I'm talking stranded on planes for 10 hours, 4 days delayed on travel and the airl I need denying our existence. They stranded dh in south America once. They've cost us at least 5K extra minimum over the years. And just hellish experiences. So I don't know. But she has my support over United.
Incidentally, she's like tiny pregnant and has been touring. She gets down on the floor and plays with kids who come to see them, she seems extremely hands on.
And squirming kids on plane on take off and landing is SUCH a wrestling match. Sometimes we had to transfer that lapbelt so damn quickly on our last trek of a million airplane hours.
