Colored Chrismas lights? I think the colored lights with the colorful shade might muddy the colors, actually. I think I'd just go with white Christmas lights. Just a thought. This project came out terrific, though! Love it. Want to copy it.
I was leaning toward white since it will be easy to pick some up from the wedding aisle at Michael's. There are no colored ones with Prime on Amazon. But all the projects that did them used the colored lights. (I was debating between "would white look like pin dots and color be less harsh? Plus everyone is using color so there must be a reason." You talked me into it.)
lol ProfessorArtNerd. No eyes. A few chicken wire gouges on the hands but no permanent damage.
kooshball - the closest relationship I have is "the parents of one of the girls that works at the dance studio the grands used to go to is friends with him" and I suppose there's always "the owner of that small glass shop on Vashon Island where I first saw his works 30 years ago knew him and my MIL knew the shop owner from the harbormaster club on the island."
This is gorgeous! I would totally bid on it. How big was the chicken wire thing? I kinda want to make one!
I bought a roll of chicken wire (2' high by 50' length) from Lowe's. The cage is 2' tall with an opening about 8" and I rolled it about 4 times for structure and to make more/smaller holes to cram the bottles in. If you were closer, I probably have 45 or so feet left over I could give you. lol.
It's actually super-easy to make. I didn't get the bottles (thankfully already cut and colored since the coloring is the time consuming part) until Thursday. We went out of town for the weekend, then I got sick Monday. I got the chicken-wire frame together Thursday afternoon and it took less than an hour for me and two kids to shove (er, gently place) the bottles into the framework.
