wambam and others - who are the Foucher fans here?
Did you guys here about her partial Achilles tear today - she's done apparently...It was sad to watch her get interviewed. She did the handstand walk afterwards and then did an 85lb snatch but probably won't be able to do anything tomorrow.

I saw it live and as soon as it happened, I just knew what it was. It's exactly what happens when you rebound 80+ box jumps.
This happened two years ago to Cheryl Brost in a regional (http://therxreview.com/cheryl-brost-withdraws-from-regionals-with-achilles-injury/). When the fuck are they going to stop allowing rebound box jumps? Seems irresponsible and dangerous, and it makes CrossFit look bad. This woman was in the lead, and at the top of her athletic game. They can't say she was out of shape, or participating in a non-sanctioned event (like they did with Kevin Ogar).
I'm devastated for her, and I'm furious with stupid smug Dave Castro.
ETA: wambam, I'm a huge Lindy Barber fan. I was at the 2013 regional when she came in first in the last event to seal her ticket to the Games. She's a superstar!
I wonder if this will make her want to go one more year.
I know, I know. Residency and all that. But it kills me that I don't get to see her win the Games
I was wondering that too, but her IG post today/last night still talked about this being the end of her CF career. Of course you never know, and she could change her mind, but as of right now it sounds like this is it. Poor thing. And what a phenomenal athlete to a) actually improve her standing after Event 6 and b) just go out there and keep doing what she could at all.

What do you do when you're a Games athlete and your CF career is over? How do you go back to being a "regular" CFer and just working out once a day for fun? That has to be hard mentally.

wambam I guess in her case if she truly is going to be too busy to train much, it might almost be easier because she has no choice short of quitting her career? But I agree, how weird to go from this (or anything) being basically your job and something where you are constantly working to be the best to something that you just do a few times a week because you enjoy it.
