Anyone interested in partaking in a June goal thread with weekly check in's? If so post your goals below, anything goes. I finally have some time freed up and need some accountability!
Fun: Buy plane tickets home. Work: Firm up my summer schedule, with more hours devoted to my own business. Health: Keep on top of my log for this research study. Try to do my physical therapy exercises 2x/week. I am constantly forgetting them.
My goal is to have us live on my income alone since H doesn't have a grad school stipend anymore. We have an efund, which is exactly what we've worked hard to save up for, but the less we have to use the better of course!
1) Succesafully complete Whole30 2) Clean/declutter main closet 3) Organize/declutter entire spare bedroom 4) Get started on organizing basement 5) Get a dog!
1) Only eat out/get takeout on weekends. We did this in May and it really helped free up money in the budget for other things. 2) Not spend any money on new house projects until we tackle the old ones. 3) Sell some professional supplies to recoup some costs. 4) Schedule a beach day with a friend who has been wanting to do so since last summer. 5) Apply for 1 new job per week. 6) Clean out the garage (again! thanks, packrat DH) 7) Clean out basement (another again! this man just throws things wherever!) 8) Bring fruit for snack for all remaining work days. 9) When school ends, complete Barre DVD 2 days per week (baby steps!) 10) Order Checks. We have been using our old address checks for too long 11) Order prints of DDs prom pics
Walk daily. Even if it's just for a little bit. No alcohol. Find NYC apartment; sign lease Create a centralized medical record to take w/ me to NY Finally book my cardiology appt Track down all of the terrible people who failed to RSVP to the wedding Print menus/program. Design and print escort cards. Finalize details - song list, photo locations, day of timeline
You're looking to move in late August, right? If so, June is too early to start looking to sign a lease (unless you're willing to pay for months you won't be there). I'd make that a late July or early August goal
You're looking to move in late August, right? I'd make that a late July or early August goal [/quote] thank you for the tip! I cannot believe the turn around. Or the prices. I will move late Aug, but FI is heading out sooner. He would like to pay for a July 15 start (first day of work is Aug 3 and he wants to ship things early). We have an apartment hunting trip the last week of June. If we find nothing, I'm sending him back on his own the week before our wedding since he has off that month.
tacom -- will his new firm pay a broker's fee? If so, that will be money very well spent, particularly since you're new to the city.
(Those fees are usually around 15% of a year's rent, though, so harder to swallow when they come from your own pocket).
New firm is paying $13k (pre tax) in moving expenses. Not sure if it's up front, if we will have to itemize, or if it would cover something like a broker's fee. We have narrowed our search down to a specific Manhattan neighborhood near a specific train. We are connecting directly with management companies at high rises first in an effort to avoid the broker's fee. if we cannot find anything, FI will connect with a broker in early July.
I missed this thread, so I am adding mine now! 1. Be credit card debt FREEEEE!! 2. Have a smooth transition back to work from maternity leave. 3. Make progress on Operation Look at Least Slightly More Polished Than Usual (I have a keratin treatment scheduled for June 12th, I've bought a couple new dresses for work, and I need to make a makeup appointment!) 4. Sign DS and I up for a fun activity so I don't feel like I'm missing out by being a working mom. 5. Finish my pregnancy scrapbook. 6. Finish my closet reorganization.
