Something flameworthy I've been thinking of a lot lately is that I wonder if some people/families simply have bad genes that cause a host of different problems in their bloodlines. Like, not that all of their children will end up inheriting one particular genetic disease, but that there's something wrong in their code that will manifest itself in many different ways. Flameworthy I guess because I am thinking about it in light of the super serious health problems that the children (and father, and siblings) of one of my friends have had, and the offspring of one of my husband's friends.
Also, and not unrelated, we met one of my husband's friend's babies this weekend for the first time. He's a year and a half (which seems to usually be a very cute, non-awkward age) and easily the ugliest baby I've ever seen. Like, I couldn't stop staring ugly.
I am not sure if I find wondering about genetics flameworthy. I have thought about it and wondered whether it was right to think about bringing a child into the world with the deck stacked against them from the get go.
And I am afraid of judging ugly babies lest karma come back to me on that one
My phone started buzzing and making noise at 4am this morning because of an Amber alert. I was so freaking annoyed, and still am, because I had a lot of trouble falling asleep after that and as a result slept like shit last night.
I guess that's flammable because my lack of sleep isn't nearly as important as finding some missing kids. But seriously, I think that would have been a lot more effective if they sent it out a few hours later. How many people actually read the alert at 4am vs how many of us just cancelled it without reading it to shut it up so we could go back to sleep?

Do you have an iPhone? If so, you can turn emergency alerts off altogether.
But also, if you're someone who gets anxious about messages disturbing your sleep (that's definitely me), it might make sense to leave your phone in another room overnight or to set it to do not disturb. I don't let phones sleep in our bedroom because if I did, I would 't sleep.
Flameworthy- A good friend of mine has a life that would make me want to poke my eyes out. She works at a boring job she hates, her H is a long haul trucker and they have 3 boys under 4. She talks all the time about how little money they have. When I met her, she was young and single and so much fun. We have nothing to talk about now. I know that this is how many people live and are great with it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
@ruralrabbit1 - I love Tupperware! Its well made and lasts forever. I even have a few pieces from the 80s that belonged to my Grandma.
My UO is probably better suited for MMMs but I'll put it here. I don't see the appeal of Disney and have no desire to go. I have never been and rather than taking our DDs there some day, I would rather take them on a cruise or to an all-inclusive (which is another UO).
I bought a piece of Tupperware today. I shouldn't support a MLM, but their giant bowls are awesome.
Growing up, we had one of those bowls. It was 70's style orange. It was used for various things, eventually being relegated to what I call the "chuck-it bucket" for when people are sick. It was dubbed "the big, orange puke bowl." Fast forward twenty years to last summer and my mom and I were at an outdoor movie. The people in front of us were eating their popcorn out of the same bowl. After years of ours being filled with vomit, the bought of someone eating of of it (even if it was an entirely different bowl), made us gag.

This times a million. We live in So Cal and I shudder when out of town visitors mention wanting to go to Disney. I don't get it at all.
I choose to sit in a window seat on flights and have to pee on long(ish) flights. I know that's annoying but I don't care.
Ehh, that's the nature of flying, so don't feel bad!
I always chose aisle on long flights (Just got off a 10.5 hour one, about to get on a 14.5 hour one ugh) because I pee a lot and HATE disturbing other people, it gives me anxiety and I'll wait until I'm about to pee my pants before getting up. But I know the risk of being on the aisle is getting bothered by other people. I can't sleep on flights, so I don't mind at all. Until I'm rich and can fly business class, I'll deal with it

I'm the same as @wandering - I don't mind if you ask me to move if I'm on the aisle (I mean, within normal boundaries, don't be up and down every 5 seconds), but having to disturb someone especially if they're sleeping is so awful to me if I'm in the window seat.
I thought of this a couple weeks ago. I don't understand younger people with tons of tattoos or the appeal of stretched out ears. I have a couple tattoos, but filling up the majority of your body all at once when you're young seems like something a lot of people will regret (either because they just don't like them later or wish they had more space to keep adding if it's truly a lifelong interest). Ditto ear stretching - it seems to be almost trendy right now, and is it really going to be something a lot of people like the look of in a few years?
DH knew some folks who competed at the Crossfit Regionals over the weekend. So, when we weren't out and about, we were watching the games online. DH does crossfit. I do not.
Today for background noise, I've had one of the other regions competitions playing on youtube.
emilyinchile - I said something similar to MH the other day when I saw an older woman (probably in her mid to late 50s) with an unattractive (IMO) ankle tattoo. I said I didn't understand the allure of a tattoo in such a visible place because it doesn't age well. But I also admitted that it's possible that she got it last week, so it was possible that it wasn't even a youthful indiscretion.
I really don't get the ears unless it is cultural. (Says the lady who has her nose pierced partly because it's cultural.)

In my mind Tupperware & Pampered Chef are much different than all the rest of the MLM's. I still have Tupperware that I bought when first married in 1978 and it's still in great shape, and I love Pampered Chef and own a lot of it as well

I know a family like this. EVERY child and grandchild has a serious health condition of some kind.

I agree. My mom's side has a lot of illness and I'm glad I'm not biologically related to her. Granted, I have no idea what my biological relative issues were/are but it's almost liberating to not know.

I totally understand the Disney hate. I have no interest in going or having anything to do with it. I feel the same way about cruises. I just don't get it. And yet we are going on a Disney cruise this summer. Wtf were we thinking?
