One tip I've read that really seems to help- never ever throw wet clothes in the hamper or your bag. I've found that if I dry stuff out first, even in my car post-run while I'm having breakfast, it goes into the wash less stinky to begin with.
I tried vinegar and tide sport, and some stuff didn't come totally clean.
I moved into a new house about a month ago and the new washing machine has made a huge difference. The old one was only 3 years old, but apparently didn't do the job.
This is kind of random...but some sporting good stores have ozone machines. They are mostly targeted towards hockey and football equipment, but I bet you could pay to have your workout clothes un-stunk.

I use a cup of vinegar every few times I do my running clothes and it helps. I also try and air dry everything before putting it in the hamper as well.
I have a question for the vinegar ladies. If you have a front loader, how do you add it? In with the detergent in the compartment? Directly into the washer?

I put it in with the detergent. It doesn't seem to hurt anything.
