#2 reminded me that there's a great series on Netflix called Chef's Table. It profiles some of the world's best chefs. Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana) is the subject of the first episode.

I've eaten a dinner catered by the chef of #1 but it wasn't at the actual restaurant. It was at a country house they bought to use as a test kitchen and for large events.

Also I have nothing to really back this up but I'm going to say that HK is pretty underrepresented here.

I went to a dinner at a house that was cooked by Boulud and Keller.  The food was amazing.  Keller was awesome and Boulud was not.

#20 - London for an anniversary dinner. And yes, it was very good.

I think Thomas Keller is overrated. I haven't eaten at the French Laundry and after trying Bouchon twice, I have zero desire to do so. The food the first time was fine. The second time it was inedible and the server was too busy to even notice, let alone care.

This list is making me slightly regret my restaurant choices in Bangkok a few weeks ago. I thought about going to Nahm or Gaggan but ultimately decided not to. Time to plan another trip!

There are some amazing restaurants in Stratford. I mean, people come from NYC and Chicago to eat at them!

Although ironically the ones they come to (rundles for example) aren't my fave.

I do like the Old Prune and the Church has been bought and is re-opening.

I'm going somewhere this weekend for my anniversary dinner with my husband.

I once went to Bottega. It is Michael Chiarello's restaurant, which is like 2 blocks away from The French Laundry. That counts, right?

It's the second Wednesday each month. One of my friends is involved in the Rotary club in Stratford and started organizing this as a fundraiser once a month. It's a lot of fun!

I'm an idiot and never went to The Test Kitchen when I was living in Cape Town.

I think it was R500 for lunch tasting which is around $50 and that was seriously so expensive for there. Going out to eat for me and my bf at the time was about R100 for dinner so I was like hell no I'm not paying R500 per person.

Now that I'm back in america, R500 is a steal!

milagro uptown (yonge and lawrence - mexican food)
linda modern thai (don mills centre - easy parking)
richtree market (bayview and york mills - go for the smoked salmon/smoked chicken and latkes)

I'm flattered!  Sadly, only three for me!

And I hated my meal at Arpege.  It made MISOANGRY.  It was so fucking expensive, the people were super snobby, we got seated in a cave-like room, and it just wasn't that good.  I was pretty much fuming by the time we got back to the hotel after the meal.

I also don't think Le Bernardin is *that* good.  Frankly, I prefer Marea for fancy seafood in NYC.  It's more relaxed and modern.

I do think EMP deserves all the accolades it gets, though.  I think NoMad is in the top 100, too.  I love NoMad.  LOVE.  Those guys can do no wrong in my book!

I've also been to French Laundry, & certainly it was good. But the company with whom I ate was rather Meh, so it wasn't a superb experience for me

Although I'll probably end up there at some point, I'm a bit aghast at $20-30 city in Bangkok. And I've dropped plenty on meals. It's not objectively a ton compared to normal good where I live, and it's less than many pricy meals I've had, but it seems obscene for that location consisting food a tenth of that can be amazing.

I'll totally hit up gaggan, though.

We went to French Laundry last year, and it was wonderful! I was shocked that my frugal husband surprised me with that dinner. It was very uncharacteristic of him!
