I have so many people on my Fb sharing that Vince Vaughn interview about how school need to have lots of guns . Some issues that I dont agree with I can at least see their perspective. But filling schools with armed civilians is just beyond me.
Also, that's going to work out really well if a strong student decides to tackle her and take the gun.
This is what I was thinking of. We had some very violent kids this year, and I shudder to think what would have happened if they had known they'd had access to a weapon in the school. I had a kid wrestle me down to get his hat from me and I had several kids break into my desk to steal candy. There's literally no place I could have hidden something where determined kids wouldn't have been able to go.

What am I even going to use my gun for day-to-day?
I have to have a damn good reason to use physical restraint and seclusion and follow it up with 2 written reports, a parent phone call, a parent notice, a staff meeting, a meeting with the student...
There's no reason EVER to shoot a kid at school, so I don't need a gun. The number of kids in the school is much higher than the number of terrorists in the school, so the only reason to need a gun in school is to shoot kids. WHICH NO ONE SHOULD EVER DO.

It's the gun nut response to Sandy Hook. Why no, we shouldn't tighten gun laws, we should just ARM EVERYONE.

Or if she snaps one day.
Or, or, or, or, or ...
This is my biggest concern. Students attack teachers all the time. Will teachers have the right to shoot students if they feel in danger. What happens when students jump a teacher to take his/her gun?
I trust my kids teachers to lay across all of them to protect them from a shooter, I think I might trust 1 out of the 50 teachers in our school to actually accurately shoot a gun (she clay pigeon shoots for a hobby).
That gun looks ripe for some kid to grab and do some serious damage or accidental discharge. Where is the teacher going to store said gun? In her desk? on her body? both have serious implications.
Right. Because we don't get DAILY emails about a teacher's cell phone or school keys being lost. "If anyone has come across my snub-nosed .38 special, could you shoot me an email? Kthanx!"
