Well, to be fair, it (stalking women in stores) does happen. I've told this story before, I'm sure.
Fire Department employee Thomas McCarthy would follow women through the grocery stores, follow them out to their cars and get their plates. He'd look up the plates on the computer system the police use for background checks (dammit I forgot the acronym) and would break into women's homes at night and rape them. He was convicted of multiple counts of rape and sentenced to 30 years. He approached me in a Giant Eagle in Lakewood about a month before he was arrested and complimented my outfit (in a really weird way, and it was a regular long skirt/jacket/turtle neck/riding boots outfit. "You look really nice in that outfit." "Thank you." "No, you look really nice in that outfit." "Urm, thank you?? BOYS! Come on.") My son recognized him on the news photo when he was arrested not very long after that. Fortunately I was not one of the 1,661 (Holy Shit!) women he had notes on, mainly on little slips of paper in his car. (My friend's DH was lead detective on the case and confirmed this for me through her. Believe me, I asked.)
There are a couple people (who are very known and trusted) who could verify the story. Not necessarily the "me" part but that it happened back then, and where. And no, I don't share those FB posts. They're just OMG be scared of everything silly. This just happened to remind me of that other story and that it does in fact happen.
My SIL just complained about the NH governor allowing Narcan perscriptions. Someone cut off my hands so that I don't remind her that her very own damn sister might need that perscription someday.
