DS 1 will reportedly have math homework until the last, ridiculous day of first grade. I am tempted to set his homework binder on fire tonight in protest, but will likely just hiss at H about how evil the teacher is. H actually tried to tell DS he made some mistakes last night. I shut that right down. You assign homework this time of year, you get what you pay for.

I'm pretty sure my kid's first grade teacher checked out at the end of April because we stopped getting homework sheets and I didn't get any emails letting me know work was missing.

I stopped signing his reading list in April. I also stopped making him write out the titles. We kept reading the books. I just couldn't deal with the battle and disorganization any longer.

Also I was sooooo happy they stopped doing spelling mid May. Thank you baby jesus.

DS's teacher doesn't even bother with a reading log. His homework is all predictable - worksheets Monday-Wednesday, spelling Friday. His friend in another class gets a stack of homework sent home weekly, logs, and always has special projects to bring in. I thought we escaped the projects but did just get a diorama project. I'm glad 1. I had a shoebox and 2. she put photo examples of how they really should look like my first grader made it himself.

I'm bringing Sharpies to the birthday party for the fifth graders. Woot. Just pull out the case and toss it in the car. Tough times. We did GD1's science fair project last night so she could turn it in today. Last night. And the "we" shit...nope, it was all her. And yet it made it to district! Yay for electric fruit. I haven't been in GD2's classroom in I don't know how long. I prepared for today's Junior Achievement by...showing up - I read the program while they were at recess.

My 8th grader was rummaging around the house last night "looking for books to pretend to have read" just to get that last reading log filled out. We are all DONE. 3 more days.

God, it's all so true. I don't think we ever even looked at the May homework calendar, and DD's teacher didn't bother with one for June.
